tuning turbo setups

If you're internally gated I had and loved the Blitz SBC Spec-S EBC. It has a 4 stage boost controll, set gain (like the greddy) and a warning mode to cut off boost if you spike too high. Very easy to use unit. Just don't use it with an external Tial wastegate, they don't work too well.

i didn't post this as a 100% bulletproof way to tune your car. i was trying to give pointers for people tuning their cars. we're about to have quite a few people with boosted tC's and if they're tuning it themselves (which a lot will be doing i'd imagine) then it would help them to realize the relation between octane, boost, compression ratio, heat, timing, etc. etc. etc.

Can I have chocolate chip?
get a known good basemap, add fuel to it, then go from there. standard rule of thumb for tuning a NA car for turbo, you should normally back out around 1 degree of timing per psi of boost. In the end you'll end up probably around 20 degrees at 10psi. Just a rough guess as no clue what the tC is running in terms of timing, but that's what i'd expect.

well all the people buying ZPI turbo kits, come with basemaps.
I mean in reality, its not overly hard to setup a map, just pull out a set amount of timing and add alot of fuel within the boost portion of the map. compare the duty cycle of the injectors and basicly keep things smooth enough so you max out the fuel injectors at a low PSI, then back out fuel.
If you move to larger injectors, you will need to add fuel at idle, remove fuel in part trottle and then just adjust accordingly to your wideband readings within boost.
that's how i setup basemaps for cars that i don't have experience tuning before. I make a rough estimate and then start tuning.

Tial is a great wastegate company. We're most likely using them with out turbo kit soon coming out for the tC. I only meant that for some reason the Blitz solenoid doesn't really like running with Tial wastegates. It does like running Apexi and HKS wastegates though, but that's mucho dinero.

Tial is a great mid priced product line that gives people a very good alternative to the big three.
