Turbonetics problem
I just got my first scion and it came with a turbonetics turbo already on it. I'm having almost a scraping flutter sound when i let off the accelerator and I'm lost on what it might be. HELP!!!!!!!!
If I'm interpreting your description of the sound correctly, it's the blow off valve. Very normal sound for a turbocharged car. If you're that worried about it post up a video or sound clip here and someone can tell you for sure.
Had the turbonetics kit on my car. Entirely normal. If you just bought a tC with a turbo kit on it and aren't well versed in all aspects of forced induction, you just made a mistake. Better break out the books!
Yea im going to be posting a video and so far the research that I've done tells me most likely it's the bov, but I'm not quite sure if i need to tighten, loosen, or just get a new spring all together in the bov.

ok well i just went out and tried adjusting the screw from as low as it will go to as high as it will go but still makes the flutter sound.... also took the bov all the way off to check if the spring was working right and it had nice compression and felt good. I'm debating on trying to find a greddy type s to put in. Good idea or bad idea?
Just keep the one you have, it's working perfectly fine. If you want the whistle or the whoosh instead, plan on spending a couple hundred bucks buying a new BOV that dumps atmospheric instead of recirculated and having a new flange welded in place on black chrome coated aluminum piping. Loosen it up 80% of the way and leave it. Post some pics up of the engine bay. You may need some more pointers if you bought the car with the kit already installed.
