Default Umnitza OFFICAL dyno test run.... ILLUSIVE MOTORSPORTS.com

Ok my car... 05 SW tC... Only mods.... ZPI Exhaust... (argh)

Friday 12/2/05 was day one did 3 runs. First run was stock box... then next to was with the umnitza swapped in with ecu reset.

Day 2 was monday same time of day and as you can see almost exactly same conditions... Now the first run is soppose to be the stock run from the first day... but the gains are different so please refer to the day 1 dyno...

As you can see gain of about 9whp but loss of about 4tq.

I will say this the looks and the sound are off the hook... 4 tq? well I dont notice a difference... I do notice the car gets up and goes a bit more... I chirp third easier and lower rpms now.

Thanks to Matt at Umnitza for letting me be the local tester.

Am I reading this right, that stock HP and TQ up to 5,250rpm is significantly higher?

with all due respect to the modacar dyno, I'm still not clear why the intake shows such a weird A/F reading.

But it does validate a lot - it makes power, it makes it after the ECU adapts.

But the drop in torque, not on the last run or the first, but the middle is somewhat disconcerting.

OK, am I reading these wrong. From 0k to 5.5k the stock run makes anywhere between 5 and almost 25hp more than every other run with the Umnitza on.

From 5.5k to the 6.25k redline the Umnitza makes more.

Is that a fair assesment?

Seriously, have i totally misread these.

For 80% of the important rpms you make a lose of not only HP but huge amounts of torque. Even when you adjust the top one to match the second one it's still more, until the last 700rpms at which point it gains. By that point the guy with the stock box is half a car length ahead and already in the next gear.

Yah, the car is running WAY to lean and is starving for fuel. Expect a cat failure down the road and possibly other issues related to running on the lean side.

I'd recommend replacing it with the stock box and get your torque back! Heck, get your HP back too... because stock box is making more HP where you use it most anyways.

I had to bring this back from the dead. I just found this post, and like Limey, I must be mis-reading something. Those graphs, one SAE corrected, and one uncorrected, show a significant loss in power bellow 5,500 RPMs. I suspect the base run on the second graph, used from the day before, shows different results because its showing the uncorrected results. Therefore, comparing the baseline run from the 1st day to the product tested runs of the 2nd day is not an accurate reflection of the gains. However, the humidity and temperatures from all of the runs are pretty close, so, the uncorrected baseline run to the other runs of the 2nd day should be relatively comparable. And doing just that shows that the results from the 1st day are actually more positive, as there was an average gain of 5.25HP with a 7.5 lbs-ft loss in peak TQ, while day 2 shows and average gain of only 4.3 HP and an average loss of about 10 lbs-ft of peak torque. Though, frankly, I don't see why a daily driver would be more focused on peak numbers than gains across the entire powerband. I seriously doubt many people looking at this product have tCs for anything other than a daily driver, so why shift power to the part of the powerband you see the least? I suppose it is much easier to notice a gain up top, as opposed to smooth gains over the entire range, especially when the product you've added has significantly reduced power everywhere else, so it feels like a kick when it finally starts making power. I truly hope Umnitza is reevaluating their design, which is why I brought this back up, since they haven't made any comment about this (as far I've seen, at least). This is not a knock on Umnitza, or anyone who bought the product (and may be seeking justification for their purchase). I’m just trying to look at the situation analytically.
