Default Used Clutch?

I'm thinking about getting a used stage 4 clutch. It's got less miles then my current stocker, and I was just going to install it myself.
However, a guy mentioned to me the other night that I may need to get it resurfaced because it would be worn in to fit with the parts on the other car, not mine.
Any thoughts?

why go through all the cost and trouble of a clutch swap to put in a used (and possibly abused) clutch?

if your going to spend the time and money to swap it, might as well put a new one in.

Well, I'm saving about $200 on the used clutch, and I will be installing it myself, so...It's only gonna be $200 bux.
Plus, it's only got 6000 miles on it.
I dumped all my money into my turbo kit, so it's not like I got another $800 lying around for a new clutch and install (don't even ask about a flywheel!)
I just need to know if it will work, or if it needs to be machined. If it does, I'm not getting it.

IMO i woundnt get a used clutch unless its very slightly used maybe like 500 miles max and you know its not abused and you know how it was drived. This is a very wear and tear part, its like buying a used brake pads. But if you have to, for a low price then maybe you could consider but just keep in mind that you might need replacement sooner than expected. If you get a new one and install it yourself then you're still saving right there. But yeah go for it if you need to, just prepared to take the risk, its either you get a close to new clutch or a worn/abused one.

I can get one for a little less then that...but the used one is only $200! I just don't know if I can talk my wife into letting me spend the extra $150 for a new one. That's double the price.

But anyway, the question is, will I have to get the used clutch resurfaced?

but dude, look at it this way, you can do a lot of abuse on a clutch in 6000 miles.

ofcourse whoever is selling it to you will be like "you might have to get it resurfaced (means he beat on it)" you don't know what this guy put that clutch through.

he did not buy that clutch with the intention of driving to sunday school every week, he bought it with the plans to drop it at the track every chance he got.

for $150 more, your getting a new clutch that has had zero abuse and should serve you without fail.

just think, you buy this used clutch for 200, it goes bad in half a year, and you now have to shell out another $375 for a new one...try explaining that to your wife. i tried to save 175 dollars, but the clutch went bad, so i have to spend 375 for a new one.

375 plus install (pay for it, do it yourself)

200 plus install, might go bad, buy a new one 375 for a total of 575.

it is a gamble. you might save yourself up to 175 dollars, or you might screw yourself and have to buy a new one and reinstall it. it is up to you.

he's not the one that said resurface it.
he said he tracked it once.
but i see your point
I'll go ask the misses if i can drop the $335 now for a new one. But the thing is, I can get a new stage 4 the same price as a new stage 5, so more decisions!

I think the 4 is a little more driveable, but don't know how much. that's why I though this was a good deal, cause it's ONLY $200, and if I don't like it, I can later get a stage 5. I dont' know!
