used wrong weight oil
i got a 07 tc and i accidentally grabbed a 5 qt jug of 5w-30 instead of 5w-20. I haven't drove yet on it. Should i change without driving on it or will it hurt one oil change? suggestions? thanks in advance
i did that once because i was lazy to open my hood at autozone and just grabed the same weight oil. i drove with it for about 3k miles and nothing happened nor did the car feel different, just remember to put the right one next time.

well bond.. you have the older engine..
'07s are meant to have 5w20.. but one change of 5w30 won't hurt. i'd change it at 3K at that point though.. you can run it for awhile.. but i'd change it out.

5-20 is for fuel saving for the most part unless your in snow you wont be feeling a differance, 5-30 is slightly thicker thats all. i run 5-30 because i redline everyday and drive thru mountains and desert sometimes, so the thicker oil works better for extra heat.
i run 0w30, have been for the past 10k miles, didnt notice any difference in gas mileage either
first number is basically the start up viscosity, since were using multi-weight motor oil, second number is the viscosity at running temp
you wont feel anything different, now if you were to run 10w50, you might feel something! LOL

1st you will not notice a difference for a long period of time. It does do harm to your engine in long term if you continue to use the incorrect oil weight, the reason the manufacture requires it due to tolerances for newer engines, only 5w20 will flow sufficient to cool the bearings. It will decrease the life of the engine, and in long term cause bearing failure. Long term means 50K-100K not a few hundred or thousand miles, it may even last longer but if you have two identical engines and change oil when recommended use correct oil weight in one and not the other the engine with the correct oil weight will out last the other one.
