this is becomeing interesting.

its neat to see someone do something diffrent. But......
I still see no reason for it. I built one of these motors they other day and it was disapointing. These motors do not liek to rev. And the rod angle is a little steep to take large boost on stock rods with high cmpression. I foresee you having alot of bottom end problems. Its also a hard set of heads to get to flow well without inducing turbulance. A comon problem with F type heads on the v6 engines. It also has a large quench area for emmisions reasons and is designed towards lwer rpm torque. "G" heads are a much mre power friendl design. Please post if you run into these problems.

I'm an honest person, I'll post when and what I blow. The bottom end's been my main concern, however we aren't imeadiately throwing significant boost at the engine to start out with. Most likely it will be a three step process.. 4-6-10... as we build around what we suspect will go out. And the day the car breaks, which I'm sure will be around other Scions.. probably the ones that gave me all the crap in the begining.. I'll post it up.

yea, something like 4-6 psi would be fine... i would love to hear what comes from this! do your thing man, don't let anyone talk you out of it... just understand what's really going on that's all...

to the guy a few posts back that asked who am i to tell him what to do, i wasn't telling anyone what to do... was just sharing some of what i know and trying to help out.... nothing more... i love cars, and like to help people out... i don't even own a scion, but answer loads of people's questions here...

anyways, that's enough of that... and again, i'm curious to see how it all turns out!

This is a brilliant idea.

For the love of God, manufacture the parts necessary to do this. I want to do this badly.

Diesel engines need high compression because COMPRESSION is the IGNITOR for the fuel. There is no spark in a diesel motor, so the fuel must auto-ignite.

Autoignition temperature of
a) Petrol 246°C
b) Diesel 210°C

You can't compare 60psi on diesel to 60psi on petrol nor can you compare compression ratios of the two types of motors.

Keep us informed on the progress of the swap and don't let them tell you what can and can't be done!

can we compare them to a 20k RPM goped motor?

The 1.3 Turbo Diesel from anything doesn't weigh nearly that much...What's the point of bringing up a 1200# motor?

good stuff.. im guessing your gonna run a standalone on this to get it all to work.. how come you tossed in that motor and not the solara or avalon??? both of those are equally if not more productive HP cars??

It's the same engine. Avalon, ES300, Camry, Solara, and the Seinna, all share the same V6.
