Default Want to see the guts???

Thought I would post up some of these pics for people who are interested in what the internals of our cars look like. These are all pics with stock parts. Just some random ones I had on my desk top. Feel free to discuss.

These were all taken with my camera phone so Im sorry the quality isn't the greatest. She'll be back and 100 percent in the next week or so and we'll get some video's of her in action. Should be a beast.

Im a big toyota fan. There are actually two in the shop right now but the other one isn't nearly as nice, but should be slightly faster when completed. This one just has a "few" mods.

Well, those pistons have skirts. Im not sure how well they would travel up and down the bore if they didn't. However, they do have broken ring lands. All 4 of them in the exact same spot as a matter of fact. I think this will be a serious problem that we will be seeing a lot here very, VERY soon.

The supra should be in the mid 600 range on its street tune. I should get the built tranny back today so I should have some dyno/street video's sometime next week. I might post them up if there is enough interest.

I'll be at the shop all day today, but you have my cell number so feel free to call me whenever. The shifter kart will be a beast if I can convience the local SCCA guys to let me do a few fun runs in it next year.

I'll bring one with me whenever I get over to get that pulley. My pistons and head have ZERO pitting and still look perfect. I've got some theory's that I'd be willing to share in person.

I've always said there is to much timing for a boosted application though.

i've seen it occur on hondas, alot think that you can tune to max torque break on pump gas. in reality you can still kill ringlands before you even get to the point of detonation. or the simple fact that alot of stock cars have weak cast pistons design that place the ringlands too high. h22a's are extremely prone to this.

Finally let the cat out of the bag huu
I think its good that you told everyone so they can rethink about pushing 300whp w/out internals while manufacturers are sitting here telling everyone that it will be ok.
So what do you think the breaking point would be with this issue...its obvious that Toyota didnt think that this would be an issue with the 6 psi that they are pushing through the blower, or did they

notice how toyota's 6psi had a much different torque curve. Torque is driven by ignition timing, more timing = more torque. TRD has greatly changed the ignition timing they are running to support the increased power. i would venture to say its not a WHP limit, but rather a how ballsy are you.

Exactly, especially when I hear a certian black supercharged car that didn't have a reflash is now at the dealer getting some warranty work done on it.

I've always said that these cars run to much timing for ten pounds. It needs to be adjusted. Plain and simple. If you are running much more then 8lbs, and dont control your timing with something, then expect to see some cracked ring lands. If you care to see them upclose before hand, let me know. I have pistons from multiple engines to show you.

The Turbonetics kit comes with a unichip, which is a preprogrammed unit. A lot of people dont care for it but they do a lot of porsche/ vw/ subaru units. Guess what....they pull timing. I've talked to them personally. Just like TRD does. I've got all the details about this matter and I've been personally working on a turbo kit that will include the unichip, be cheaper then the turbonetics kit, and come with all the quality parts you've come to expect with these kits. Plus it will have a coated tubular manifold standard. Its in the R & D stages and will not be released until Im 100% sure its completely safe. There will be no preorder/sale and it will be availible immediatly with a two week turn around time. I'll post details as they are relavant but I've done work with my personal car, as a previous employee, I've done the ZPI cars, including the majority of the design/fab work. I've had my hands on plenty of these cars and I will put it to good use.
