Default ways to make my acceleration faster

ok, so im running an auto, make fun of me if u want lol, but i have spent most money into making my car look good, but i want to add to some hp to my car just to get a quicker acceleration, im not trying to break 13's or 14's in my quarter mile, i just want to feel the acceleration more...

i have a injen cold air intake in, and a megan racing oe-rs axleback exhaust...

wat other things can i throw in that arent too expensive that will give me a little acceleration boost... i know alot might say pullies, but im trying to stay away from those..

would getting a new midpipe and s-pipe do much combined with a new header? wat kind of header produces the least amount of rasp a 4-1 or 4-2-1? i have seen some dynos where a header has added up to 8 wheel hp... but i DONT want rasp in my engine at all... i went with the exhaust i did specifically to not make it too loud.

what are some suggestions from guys who know more than me? will a midpipe or s-pipe combined with a header do much to my acceleration ? thanks

not much you can do. you have an auto, so you can't really improve your launches and shifting. all you can do is put better tires on for a better launch, remove weight and increase power for better power to weight ratio.

you get what you pay for you spend a few hundred bucks on pulleys and a header and exhaust, you get few extra pony's, you'll notice it, but mostly it is in your mind.

the difference between 4-2-1 and 4-1 aftermarket headers make no difference in noise, hey will both sound awful and raspy with any bolt-on aftermarket exhaust. they sound the same because they replace the primary catalytic convertor with just pipes. it isn't like aftermarket exhaust which replaces factory resonators and mufflers with different ones.

if you want a header, and exhaust, but don't want rasp, you have to go custom and have a big resonator welded on. that is the only way.

will you get some whp gains, yes, but nothing that will considerably lower your 1/4 mile times. you want better acceleration, you need forced induction.

ok man thanks, thats waht i was afraid of...

would adding a s-pipe and midpipe alone do anything at all, even if minor?

they help, but are minor. the factory s-pipe is very tiny and restrictive, and crush bent piping, so replacing that with a mandrel bent piece helps improve flow.

the mid-pipe has a small secondary catalytic convertor on it, and a resonator on it, it is mostly straight with one bend in it, so replacing it isn't as useful since it isn't very restrictive to begin with.

try a 20% underdrive pulley from NST. That will give you a quicker acceleration which is what im running as well. Your rpm needle will go up faster and it will give you faster acceleration

The crank pulley is the best "bang for buck" you can do. Pick up an underdrive one from NST and you'll notice. Not a crazy difference... but the revs feel quicker up and down for sure.

you could get a piggyback system and a better tune...that would probably help a little

not very much power to be made tuning an n/a tc, even with intake and exhaust.

i've seen threads where they got lik 5-10 extra torque at the wheels...obviously nowhere near the gains of tuning a f/i tc but hey then when u go f/i u already got the piggy back....since everyone no's tc stands 4 turbo charged

This is only useful for pushing a lot of power (i.e. turbo) otherwise it's not going to make any noticeable performance difference. Unless the OP plans on going turbo and pushing 250-300whp there is no need to upgrade the tranny.

ya im not going turbo... after reading a TON here at work on the pulleys, i feel much safer with them... i think i might do that...

whats a good piggy back system that people use? tho like the one guy said i dont know if id get much with just intake, axleback exhaust, and pulleys, or would i?

the only significant difference is going to be with FI..I have pulleys, intake, exhaust, header, s-pipe and honestly it's not a huge difference
