AGREED ...Overall i notice a great improvement in launching.... instead of the bad burn out-wheelhop sound/feel (eerrrrr dong dong dong dong), now its just a burn out ( a clean one).... also i notice a smoother shifting.

AGREED ...but what sucks is the sound. its like a rattle sound coming from the right side where the damper kit is... it is not the engine, it probably gotta be where the damper and the strut tower is attached. you can hear the sound when you start to accelerate or reverse... i thought it was the engine at first thats rattling but when i took it off the rattle is gone..

AGREED...man this is nuts. the sound is crazy. it sounds like i have an intake with the filter off. i am goona try and install some rubber gromets on it tomorrow at work and see if that helps at all. im not to crazy about the sound but my intake should cover it up once it gets here. over all, i love the new feel of the engine and throttle. ill let y ou know if the rubber gromets help at all tomorrow.[/quote]

MY REVIEW ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Got mine installed today and its diesal engine noisy. The best way I can describe it is valve train/whinny transmission noise. My mechanic suggest that because the brace is solid metal that it may be resonating or ringing through to the firewall what normally would never be heard.....[maybe like a tuning fork effect]. Its like you can't hear these sounds under the hood but you hear it while driving up in the dash towards the right side of the car. Rather strange as I had one of these devices on another car and did not get this. I personally feel little to no vibration at all. It does what it is suppose to do but the noise was very un-expected. I would think anyone who does this mod and hears nothing has a short ram and or header installed. In my case a CAI and no header so I hear it. Not getting well hop and when I shift I don't snap my neck as bad So mixed bag.

Hey I also wanted to add some pics and info. Following the pics on the instructions putting the brace on the (valve cover ) side of the engine bracket/mount caused a pop noise when you shifted and really looked buckled and stressed. If you look close at the photo showing the close up pick on the creative compacts demo car you can see were it just does not flush up with the motor bracket(all though the rest of the unit does not look buckled as mine did). Anyway when we moved it to the other side the brace lined up with my motor bracket flush and the engine dampner no longer looked buckled and or un-flush. Is it possible ?? that the photo and or install that lead to the photo in the instructions could be wrong? I can only say what worked better for my car. I will add that EITHER way the noise level stayed the same. Below first is creatives pics then my pics. No plans on taking it off as it does control motor flex

creatives car FYI their car had headers and short ram on it when they installed this (pics appear that way) so they probably did NOT hear the noise we are hearing.

My pics to compare. (I also may have had slightly different hardware since their first pics.)

Well update for day 2 and now I have a loud rattle at low rpm when the engine shakes a bit..ya know taking off soft in first and or reverse. At first I thought it was the AC line but padded that with some rubber for a test and no dice. So the over all noise I can deal with but rattles I don't think so. So it is looking more and more like it is coming off which really sucks. $170 down the tubes. I wonder how much research and on car testing weapon-r did with this as it seems like some there stands to be some stuff that needs worked out.

well, i'm going to hold off on getting the damper. i'd love to have one, but i'll wait to see what happens long term wise.

i want to know how long it will last.
i want to know how it will affect other parts of the car (sunroof and lots of vibration don't mix)
and i want to know what is causing rattles on certain cars.

Mine doesn't rattle. My bet is the problem with the Weapon R is the damper itself. The brackets may be custom made to fit, but if you use a non-adjustable, "all purpose" damper, any resistance it provides beyond what is needed to keep the motor from shifting during acceleration is turned into noise.

I had the rattle, but was able to fiix it with shimming and adjusting the damper length. Its been about 3 months since I last messed with it and it I have no ratttles whatsoever. The only noise I get is a vibration when Im at idle with the AC on.

Too sad but I just took mine off. The tuning fork effect for drive train/trans noise inside the car is driving me crazy. Also got a rattle at low rpms that I can't seem to dial in on and one of the bolts sits close to the AC line and prob. will rub a hole in it with my luck. All in all I think a thrown together product by Weapon-R to get mod hungry people to blow $180. Anyway mine will be on Ebay for $140ish very soon. Also in my opinion the install is more time consuming than one may think. Also air driven wrenches with extensions would make things better and make sure to have wood laying around for the jacking up the car on the oil pan per instructions. If you race you should get it. If you don't...you don't.

You will notice a difference whenever you punch it and especially off the line.

That is too bad... and I was going to get one too. I think the design is bad since there is only one shock dampaneing on the left side of the engine. Unless the shock is basically flush with the rocking motion of the engine, I would think the brackets wouldn't hold up to well undess the asymetrical vibrations and stress. Maybe if you add a shim or heavy-duty rubber or urythane washer to the assembly...?

I just got my damper today and I was wondering if there is a difference with installing it with jacking up the oil pan like it says in the instructions or is it okay to install it without doing that.

Probably wouldn't be a good idea. I'm going to assume that raising the engine by the oilpan will give the damper more a proper "feel" for "how" to dampen the moving.

When you lift the engine by the oil pan, you're pushing the engine up, which is exactly what happens when you're shifting and stuff. This probably translates as the damper "pulling" the engine up while also "pushing" it down therefore cancelling engine movement rather than just pushing it down only.

Someone might want to correct this.

What did you do to get it to stop rattling?
