Weapon-R Help (Realllllly odd)
So I've been trying to install my Weapon - R short ram since last night and I've
been having a lot of problems it's giving me a headache.
Problem was that start the car and it would idle really low and the car would just
sputter and die after a minute or so idling. All the clamps were tight and I
assumed it was the piping not correctly aligned with the throttle body
using the rubber hose thingy majig adapter that connects the intake.
Too tired to attempt again, I tried this morning. This time I held down the intake
my hardest and moved it around in a circular motion trying to feel if it was touching
the throttle body. It came to a point where I was pretty confident that it was in direct
contact so I tightened the clamp with a ratched as tight as I could.
I reconnect the negative on the battery and start the car.
IT IDLED PERFECTLY.
But then I noticed a CEL light on my dash. Then I remembered that I didn't clip
back in the MAF censor. So I turned off my car, clipped it back in, and started it.
The car was doing exactly what was happening the night before. Idling really low,
sputtering, and eventually dying after a period of time.
What;s going on here? I'm starting to get frustrated because I've never been
faced with this kind of problem before. Can someone please help me out?
Sparknotes:
- MAF censor unclipped = car idles fine.
- MAF censor clipped = car rough idles, low rpm's, and eventually dies.

I just turned off the car, clipped it on, turned it back on.
Also, it's for the 05-06's and my car is an 06.

u make sure that your MAF sensor is on tight enough and that there are not leaks or gaps where it connects to your new intake. when i first installed my trd CAI it did this but i just started it back up and kinda put my foot on the gas a lil and after that i guess that the ecu learned it and its been fine eversince.
I had the same problem. Basically, the hole that the maf fits into is bored too large and air is leaking in throwing off the MAF. I contacted them and they told me to send it back so they could check it out and if it was wrong they would send me another one. I already had the car apart so no time for that. Here's what I did.
Go to your local Autozone and buy an Misc. sized Oring kit. Slip a larger O ring on the maf where it goes into the hole and this helps keep the air from leaking. That helped me a ton, but for extra safety, I put some gasket maker really thin on the bottom of the maf only where it sits on top of the intake. No problems since.
