So there is no other way for me to describe this. When my car is in gear moving along, or even out of gear with the clutch in at a stop light, I hear this really annoying sound that sounds like a bunch of crickets under my hood. HAHA, sorry but it really does sound like crickets, the faster I drive the faster the sound gets. It is not my intake, I am a aware of what that sounds like, and its not a loose belt or anything. It is definitely a rotational sound though... Any ideas before I take it in and get jacked off by the dealership? Thanks!
I have a similar weird noise. However, Mine is coming from the Passenger side rear of my car.
However mine only does it when I am moving.
The faster I go the faster the sound gets. It sounds like a bunch of really quick ticking noises. I can hear it inside the car when the windows are all rolled up and when I roll them down it's even louder.
haha

so, i figured out that it is the transmission. when the clutch is pushed in, no matter how far, the high pitched squeal/ticking/crickets goes away. could it be a throw out bearing? anyone?
