weapon R or the alphawerks... both are pretty much the same. With adding a header come a lot of rasp. Be prepared to weld on 1 or 2 thirty inch resonators to your mid pipe.

the same? umm..no..completely different design and has two completely different effects on the power band. As for the rasp comment - with the alphawerks header yes..the weapon r isn't nearly as bad..don't know why people complain about rasp from the weapon r..my TRD + weapon r setup is loud but IMO hardly raspy at all unless I'm at WOT

megan is a 4-1 design isn't it? 4-2-1 seems to be a little quieter and less raspy than the 4-1 designs.

And I didn't say mine wasn't loud..I just said it wasn't raspy.

Well I was merely talking about horsepower gains. If you want me to write a 5 page paper about it then I will.

STRUP all the way! No rasp with stock exhaust. Change the mid pipe and exhaust and that's another story.

WOW.... I just have to laugh at this thread... The OP really opened up a can of worms. lol.

Just do your own research and keep in mind what purpose you are building your car for. When it all comes down... there's really only one person that has to be happy with your car...and that's you.

take this note for whatever you wish.... If you're going to keep the stock exhaust, then you most likely are not going to see the small gains hp/tq that a free-flowing catless header will give you. The whole point of modifying an exhaust is to make it free flowing all the way back. If you still have a piece of the exhaust that is restrictive, then that will be your bottleneck and limit the gains of any of the other free-flowing parts you spend your hard earned cash on.

do you really think even if the rest of the exhaust system was changed your getting that much more hp?

a year or 2 back when ptuning had the dyno shoot out crazyeddie on here dyno'd at 162whp ish with intake header and axleback (stock midpipe) not to mention his axleback was a Greddy SP2 which is an OEM style exhaust thats just as restricting as stock due to the chambers.

other tc's that day with FULL exhaust systems and same setups dyno's less. needless to say stock midpipe is fine for the tc anything 2.5" and over for a NA tc is overkill.

basically what im trying to say is if you change the exhaust or not you are NOT gaining that much if anything at all from a header. crazyeddie may infact be up there with power gains from bolt ons and no EMS
