CARB legal is for little pansies...unless you live in CA and then I feel for ya...man and you only get 91 octane too...sux

I would stay away from the weapon r a buddy had one and it threw the CEL...K+N is always reliable but never the best for horsepower...Just wait a bit and see which ones come out because I know that there are different companies out there now finishing theirs up...

they are working on it now, I honestly would either go weapon R or wait for the AEM, they(aem) know what they are doing and have been in the business since the beginning of the import scene.

+ waiting for the AEM intake you will not void your Warranty on your car. I have been back an forth with the dealers with this issue. K&N, Weapon R both void your Warranty form the mass airflow sensor back. The AEM however will not because Toyota and AEM have a partner agreement. The only promblem with the AEM is that you probaly wont get that big of a gain of Horse Power as the other to due to the Carb count that it has to have.

WR Is the way to go... I have not met a single customer or car owner in the past 5 years I have been in this business that has had a warranty issue because of a Short Ram Intake. The WR Intake is putting down the power tC owners want, IS NOT Throwing and CEL's and is also INSTOCK. K&N is backordered till July and who knows if AEM will ever release an intake.

The WeaponR or K&N WILL NOT void your warranty, maybe on the intake but not on the engine unless they can distinctly prove that engine failure was the direct cause of the intake installation. Now if the thing sucked up a gallon of water and hydrolocked the engine, then yes consider it voided, but honestly you have a better chance of getting hit it the nuts by a bolt of lightning than that happening.

The AEM cannot get CARB approval from Cali and will most likely never get released as an official Scion factory accessory and if it ever does get CARB approval in all 50 states then it will probably not produce enough power to warrant the purchase of it. The AEM was removed from the Scion sccessory catalog for the tC.

I'd disagree. To me (as in, how I view the aftermarket industry right now) it seems that parts for the tC are in their infancy and it might be prudent to hold off for a few months. There is also a recent thread in General regarding incomplete kits/instructions and the like. While this is probably an isolated incident, I'm of the philosophy of not settling for less than what I'm after, so I'd rather see what is and what will be then what's presently before us.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you just offering different perspective.

Yeah, i've heard a few different people talk about bad weapon R experiences, with multiple products.

The K&N is what I went with. I can't imagine the weapon R being better than this. The sound is amazing (and i have a stock exhaust), the power is very noticeable, and with the placement of where the filter is, I can't see any way of hydrolocking.
