! Who cares. Mazda is owned by Ford. Ford = Crap!! I had an '84 'Stang and it gave me nothing but trouble! I put MORE $$$ into it than I paid for it!! That's why I bought a Scion. Scion = Toyota. Toyota = Good quality product!!

Last I heard, ford owns 33% of Mazda, not the controlling majority. That was the case at least in 2004.

He said he's an auto. So it makes sense. Unless he started by power-breaking or dropping into neutral. But that messes up your tranny so it's better to lose some time.

Please stop the magazine racing....Besides, about 90% of stock TC owners will never put down a 15.4. More like 15.6+ if they are lucky. This is a drivers race. Yes the advantage is to the TC but def a drivers race.

Yep, and the posted times for a tc are 15.58, so everyone hitting 15.6 are matching the "magazine" numbers well. And just about any difference of around .5 sec is a drivers race... hell most races are drivers races, so that is redundant. Car for car, the tC wins. That is the only question you can answer in this regard because the driver variable is a moving target. To prove that, I know someone with a new V6 mustang, which will outrun a tC (not by a mile, but it will win). I can absolutely smoke them in my tC. Why? because I can out drive and out shift them. That gives no logical comparison of the vehicles.

if all races are driver races, whats the point of even having this thread? wouldn't all responses be : the best driver (my 1st response)....

you guys can't have it both ways. either you're measuring the speed of the car or the talent of the drivers.

everything else is just speculation

I never said it was comparing the two vehicles directly, I said exactly what I said above. And in racing you are NEVER comparing one or the other, so you do have it both ways. No two cars are going to run the exact same speeds at the exact same times, and no two drivers are exactly the same. Bracket racing is supposed to take care of the vehicle differences... and does to an extent, but no where near completely. But on the street you are never getting a good comparison of just car or just driver. It is always both. The only way to compare cars is to have the same person run each car a good number of times (making sure they are equally familiar with each car to start with as well) and taking the averages for each car. The only way to compare just driver is to do the opposite. Have two drivers , each equally experienced with each car, take multiple runs in the same car under the same conditions and then average their runs. Now, you show me a how many people are doing that. Both the driver and the car specs are variables, so you are comparing a combination of both.

Hey i have an idea for the guy who keeps asking who will win this or that, i have some advice, go find out yourself, race some 1. Of course every 1 on this site is going to say the tC cuz we all f***ing have them. Our cars are faster than almost every car ok. If you went to a mazda site they would say that they would win.
I agree with engifineer
it all depends on the driver, you could be racing some 1 with a 3 that just learned stick, and the could really suck at it, so stop asking these god forsaken questions about is my car faster than this or that
