xD CAI modification port to tC

yeah. It would work but the parts might/probably won't be the same.
You're essentially keeping the stock tube and connecting a harder plastic tube so that you can clamp a cone filter on.
If you are going this route, you might as well do the GFI modification (i think it also uses the spectre tube. not really sure)
