it'd probably be much easier to source the Super CVT-I 6 and 7 speed Sequentials that come on the 2AZ-FE on some mini vans in japan...

Honestly, you only need to be rich if you are unable to do fabrication work. Comparatively this is a lot easier than stuff most car enthusiast groups undertake. All you need is a decent machinist, a cutting torch, and a welder. oh, and scrap steel. They only reason it would be expensive is if you don't do stuff yourself or expect a bolt in solution. For starter and clutch usually parts can be sourced from other vehicles with similar engines. Manufacturers do not like making specific parts for every model vehicle and they tend to reuse a lot.

This is 100% true

Little Update
went to the dealer... he helped alot more than I thought... here are the basic parts that will need to be changed-or interchanged
1 axels

2 XRS transmission..the carrolla verson not the matrix.....the matriz version is AWD and sucks... although I think there are a few that were FWD not sure.

3 XRS and TC flywheel..... very important to have both

4 XRS clutch

5 not sure what starter I am going to use but I think the TC one is a little more stout
although I might make a custom flywheel and skip step 3 which will use a TC starter

6 XRS shift linkage.. AKA just the 6speed housing

7 4 custom linkage brackets

8 Adapter plate to bridge the gap between the 2... 1/8-1/2in in some places

I will le you guys know more when I get started

a twin clutch setup would be a lot better then 6 speed..one for the odd gears and one for the even gears :D then you can shift just as fast as the GTR

if i've read through the posts correctly, i'm assuming that the 2ZZ-GE 6 speed MT is what you're trying to swap into the tC?

i'm just curious do you know how strong the tranny is? i'm just wondering cause i've READ in different forums that the 6 speed tranny cannot withstand a lot of torque. i'm gonna try to find the places i read this and find out how much torque can be thrown at it.

anyway, good luck and keep us updated!

you do know that the 2009 Corolla XRS has a 5spd right? it seems like thats the tranny you were looking for!

the only 6spds came in the 2000 - 2005 Celica GTS, and the 2005 - 2006 Corolla XRS

just to be clear!

^^^^^^^ ummm yeah...... thanks... you do know I did my research right....... as far as the torque issues are concerned.. I think you are right that it cant initially take extremely high torque however im not using a stock clutch and I am using a custom aluminum flywheel. hopefully it will be easier to work with initially. I think once I have the hang of it I will test out a normal one... (aka Machining aluminum is hella easy) I found out the bolt pattern on the 2 are s little different so i will try to drill and tap new holes... in the XRS one.

^ yea, there's a thread about someone swapping for a Camry V6, but i dunno if they finished. this thread is about trying to swap in a 6 speed manual transmission from the 2ZZ-GE engine.

i have a shop near me willing to look into swapping the 6 spped parts into my housing, theres only a few things u need to swap, but they need to know if the trannys input shafts are the same or not, from what they said if they are they can do it. the shops been around a long time and they said theyve done the same thing to a few other vehicles... anyoe know if there the same, the xrs 6 speed or the gts 6 speed?
