I agree that a rebuilt title makes more sense for an auto to manual swap since there’s no value in the car. Did you buy it with that title or crash it? Is the OP also swapping on a rebuilt title?

spending 2k when you can sell the car and buy another for the same price or less and not have to spend any money out of pocket. interesting thought process there.

how so not out of pocket? ur still gonna be makeing monthly payments and still have to come up with some kind of down payment

I did mine because I already trashed my auto tranny, so for all the work to put a new auto tranny in (not to mention cost) I could just swap to manual with a lil extra $$ - to be honest everything for the swap (minus the clutch) was under $1k

wow. hated to start so much drama lol
yea no salvage here. just plan on going on to bigger better things.
had my car up for sale since 36k for 11k (one year!) no offers (worth taking)
trade in is 8.5k THE BEST. so only logically to spend 1.5 - 2k rather than take 8k and spend 3 - 4k + on a new tc that could be on it's way out already.
already ordered just about everything. just need to get the pedal assembly, linkage, harness, and transmission mounts.
wanna find a place with the car so i can just rip out all the little bolts/pins/mounts for little things.
pwee. go to the dealer and have them look up part number for parts. helped me alot to realize all little bolts and odd ends i needed. and did you get the linkage with or without all the hardware and from where?

AKA what moves you I know I am not going to find as clean of an RS1 like mine with 34k miles so thats what is making me do this.

^yea it'd be impossible to find an rs1 with that low of miles in one piece AND in stick. lol
there's one by me but it's also automatic, love the rs1 color. the hatch garnish snapped so its like duct taped on lololololol

good to know im not the only person swapping. everything ordered except transmission mounts/wiring harness !!!

1st I have never done this so I'm not 100% sure. Wouldn't you only the the ECU / engine wiring harness portion and not the entire harness? I couldn't see making an entirely different harness, I could see just the engine harness portion being different.

If i were to buy another tC manual it would most likely be more money. You have to consider the transfer's. If from a dealer there are dealer cost. Since you are much wiser and older you should know this sir. Oh i forgot to mention buying another tC who knows how many owners it has have? who doesn't know if they dog the crap out of the car when they took it off the lot there are a lot of things to consider.

YES i will be keeping my tC till the thing BLOWS then rebuild it. just because i love my car and honestly i am content with my vehicle and really don't want nothing else. I'm sorry most of us young and stupid user don't have so much money that we can just buy a new car every two years like your wise and knowledgeable member or wait do you lease your cars? Must suck to pay monthly to drive a car that you will only be returning back in a year in a half =/
Hey man i dont know if this is too much trouble but is there anyway you can post exactually each part i would need to do this. Like pm me or something. I saw the list but it sais etc and i hear you can use the same computer abd stuff. Thanks for any help

Sorry just saw this. I kept my auto reservoir and put a T in one of the lines and ran a line to the clutch master cylinder. The manual reservoir simply has an extra port off it for the clutch.

I dont know of any seal kit needed. Some may recommend replacing the rear main while you have the flywheel/tranny off, but thats up to you.
