Default ZPI stage 1 Cyl head

anyone run the ZPI stage 1 cyl head without boost. the stage 1 head, intake, exhaust. something along that line. i dont wanna boost i just want pretty much those mods for the little go go. i may boost later on but i just want the longevity for now. stock bottom end with the head a good idea? i mean boost will be more harsh on the bottom end then the head so id imagine it would be good just wanna know if anyone has ran it on small mods and felt any power? hey for 550 aftter the core its a good deal i t hink.
any feed back is good thanx

wouldn't you need to do some thing to the cylinders like bigger rings or such?

Also i think ZPI themselves say that the true benefit of the head can only be attained with engine management(around 30 hp), the head by itself will net you around 15 hp thats almost the same as a header for twice the price.

ask around the F/I forum.

i dont really think a header will give you 15whp maybe header back exhaust since you open up the whole system but a header alone? i could be wrong anyone have actual dyno of header with maybe an intake everything else stock even just a header dyno??

your not going to see much of a gain and an emanage is a must, you cannot run the head without an emanage. Your looking at 30hp probably. For 1000$ the head is 550, plus all new gaskets, coolant, oil, greddy emanage, harness, tune, etc etc. Adds up to alot. That and the head is nt assembled, no valves shims buckets, cams etc.

Also dont forget larger ports dont increase airflow at low rpm they actually hurt it. They only increase airflow at high rpm so you might lose low rpm power for a gain above the rev limit wich you can take advantage f with the emanage but still your revving the engine more. With a turbo its diffrent because you have such a high intake velocity at a lower rpm because the air is so much denser.

imo dont open up your motor unless your doing pistons or f/i.

yea i was just seeing if anyone had that. i had a boosted civic and an all motor so i kno how both work the pros and cons. thanks for your input. i thinkn ill prolly go with boost its hard going from a 500whp civic to a 150hp T/c lol but its an awesome car and i work on these things at toyota all day so i know them inside and out since ive had to do 2 camary short blocks. im pretty much dont with 600hp stuff ill be happy with the Stage 0 (intercooled tho) ZPI kit. 6 pounds is good enough all i want it that little go go. i may even do the TRD charger since i get my employee discount...advise on that also would be cool, or i can just read the boost forum lol thanks everyone input will still help on anythin you got..

advise on the TRD charger, dont get it. they are extremely overpriced for limited gain and a supercharger that is extremely substandard. i read everyday about new folks who have problems with them as well.

ive seen alot of them go boom as well. The other problem is the hp curve. It doesnt make any more power then stock until 4500rpm so your only getting an extra 30-40hp for 2000rpm, verus the zpi that starts building at 3200 i believe. I worked n the consumer reports car when i was at the dealer and the charger started getting noisy towards the end of the testing. It started to have a grumble/rattle coming from the compressor housing, that and i am certain it broke the s/c mount all at 3,000 miles. Later after becoming a sl member i read alot of peoples comments on bearing failure and described the same noise.

zpi stage o with an emanage or a dezod kit ftw.

oh and if you go zpi stage 0 dont forget bov, emanage, and an spipe since the stock one is so restrictive.

honestly, looking at the stock s pipe, yes its restrictive, but i got the most boost increase changing out the stupid trd muffler. i could feel a huge difference in just changeing the trd muffler and midpipe, even with the stock s pipe. allowed me to gain 1 more psi of boost.

so the stage 0 kit with the intercooler add on is a good buy then? safe to i assume on stock head and bottom end? one question the TRD reflash would that work on a turbo at 6-7 psi cuz u can use the same injectors. anyone thought of it or tried it???

also if i dont go the boost route and do intake and header back exhaust anyone notice a difference with that set up. header spipe mid and muffler??? with a cold air. im either lookin for some power or a lot idn yet just want to feel it all out and see what everyone else gets for gains. thanks everyone

i was going to go stage0 with the trd reflash but since the emanage is only like 300 bucks you might as well just get it.

oh and theres no comparison to i/h/e and a turbo. Are cars are fairly well designed from the factory so there isnt much to improve on unless you force feed it with some boost.

oh heck yea i know theres no comparison to boost or i/h/e i had a boosted civic wit over 500whp boost rules lol. emanage is 300bucks how much is the TRD reflash?? and will the TRD reflash work with 6psi? cuz im pretty sure the reflash will tune itself for boost up to 7psi right?? so you can through some boost at it and it will know wat to do or is it set parameters. not like a supra to say where you can up the boost somewhat and it will tune for it.
