Default $1000 Supercharger install?

Hey guys. I live in San Diego, have an 06 tC and just purchased the S/C from TRD Sparks. $1850 was just too good of a deal to pass on. I also just got off the phone with a lady at Kearny Mesa Toyota who quoted me $1000.00 to install it!

When I asked what that was based off of, she said "That's 10 hours of labor. Standard for all our supercharger installs."

I said "So you've done a bunch of these, and actually charged people $1000 to do it?"

She says "Oh yeah, we've done plenty. And charged a lot more than that too."

Yeah. Anyway. I guess I won't be going to Kearny Mesa Toyota to get the install done. There's probably 15 different things wrong with what that lady said.

Question: Has anyone in the San Diego area gotten their S/C installed at a dealership and what was your experience? How much did it cost?

Thanks!

NOOOOO!!!! By their book the install should be around +/-$450-500 with out tax. I paid $450 after tax. I was quoted $925 by another dealer and when I asked if I got to keep the $500 reflash tool for that price they hung up on me.

Yeah. I left out a little of the conversation too. I eventually got hung up on as well when I questioned why they would sometimes "...charge much more than that."

I guess she didn't really have a good explanation for that statement.

Holy __! $1'000!?

I just got mine installed last Wed for $350 at a dealer in Wausau WI. I got other quotes like, 450, 650, and 850 from other dealers though.

I think around 5-600 is pretty reasonable condidering how long it takes.

At $1000, what good is a warranty if you've allready paid more than you will save?

I got mine the month they came out, and it cost me $4000 installed... now thats a $3200 S/C and $800 installed. That was back in 10/2005.

Main reason why I was fine with that was that it was all rolled into my financing as a $4000 accessory

shouldn't be different. I got quoted 650 and they didnt ask/know whether it was a manual or auto.

this thread makes me want to look around more for a nicer price

My tC is an automatic. However, from what I've been told, the installation costs the same.

Poway said they would call me back with a quote. That was a few hours ago. Haven't tried El Cajon. Escondido just told me $600. So, I don't know how many they've done as of yet, but that seems to be a reasonable price. Thanks for all the replies!

$800 for mine...

And the idiots had it for two days and didn't even install it completely - had to go in a few days later because the alternator was loose, then they tried to tell me the part was only covered under a 1-year parts-only warranty (which I corrected).

At least I got a free loaner car. A 0-60 in five minutes flat Corolla S...

Just shop around because some dealership told me 975. I got mine installed $350.69 and that includes tax. It depends on how much the dealer chargers per hour. The dealership I went to simply charged the cost per hour as an accessory so thats why it was so cheap.

Well, this just in: Poway Toyota just returned my call. Their bid is.... $1200!

It's amazing to me how dealerships so close together can charge such drastic differences for the exact same thing.

Wow! That's amazing, I lived in poway when I first bought my scion, I was told that they charged less per hour for service...

I bought my car from Kearny Mesa, they charge a lot for everything. I got a quote from them to install the TRD LSD, they said it would take like 30+ hours and would cost me like $3200 + Parts and tax... hahah

Let us know what you find.
