2AZ-FE PCV thread size?
I'm thinking about doing a catch-can setup - and I want to eliminate the stock PCV - but does anyone know the thread size? I'm wondering if a pipe fitting will thread in.
Its a metric thread size like an m18 or something? Cant remem for sure - but i know its not a standard pipe thread unfortunately
Sounds stupid - but when i did my catch can setup i got a 3/8" npt nylon fitting to 1/2" hose barb and just threaded it into the valve cover
lol It works perfectly - basically the 3/8" npt is just slightly too larger so the metal valve cover just creates new threads in the nylon fitting

Yea im sure there are some metric thread fittings out there somewhere. Just have to order em - but $40 to get the fitting with shipping = not worth it for me - im poor lol - i got the nylon fitting for about $1.50 and spent maybe 2 min threading it into the valve cover.
Yea i feel ya - mine has been fine - i was actually worried about it temp wise but the nylon is rated for service from -30-150*C which is like 300+F so yea dont think thatd be an issue
As for leaking ive had 0 issues with mine it seals perfectly. But if youre going for the show route than you could do the fancan fittings to make it pretty - unfortunately i dont have the money for pretty lol - another thing you could do is remove the valve cover - drill the whole out slightly larger and tap for a 3/8 npt

But yeah, I think drilling a new hole and re-tapping it may be a good option as well. I may do that to the other port as well.
if you do a retap.. i would suggest running a 8 or 10 an fitting rob...
heres some help for you my brother... something maybe you might like or get an idea from... im converting the other valve cover i have to a breather port system for boost... but im using the exhuast sides for venting vs the pcv system... but you can also hook up the pcv system and do the same...

b&r fittings i think supplies the necessary conversion from out valve cover pcv to an AN fitting.. i think.. not sure.. maybe u can ask. the fitting size we use u can check up at lowes..
oh and sorry bro i searched in my storage today and didnt find a valve cover.. sorry!!! but if i see one ill pm it to you

yikes thats a bit much for a catch can....
I had been thinking of producing a catch can just for the tc that would mount without drilling or goofy clamps...never imagined i could sell em off for 200-300 bux a pop...thats a gold mine....lol

lmaooo i would never pay that much for a catch can ..i just posted it so rob can get an idea of AN size and types of fittings and who he can contact for a fitting in case he wanted to bling it out since hes already going all the way on a new motor. sorry i have expensive taste haha... but yea.. ive made catch cans before out of mini Heineken kegs or pvc pipes.. actually rob.. ive got a great catch can link saved someplace to make a nice in expensive but effective cc LMK and ill look for it and post it up.
i cant find the old link.. but this gets the idea across only this was a hick who really ghettofied the idea.. but you get the picture...

i tried em....fittings are soo close that oil vapor just goes right through em.
here is proof
(inside the intake pipe the catch can was routed to)

the catch can (i painted it black)
Yeah people need to understand that if you're gonna get a catch can, make sure it's baffled - or open it up and stuff steel wool in there.
I don't plan on re-routing it back to the intake mani either.. I'm just putting a breather filter on the can and a plug at the manifold.

We drill & tap our valve covers to 3/8NPT and use a -10AN line to the catch can. If your interested I have several new valve cover's that are already done...call me.
