Default 2AZ-FE Removal?

Aright guys been around this forum for a while, this weekend me and my buddy are gonna pull my motor out, long story short: i was boosted, burnt or cracked a ring land or ring in Cyl #4 and i've been stock ever since. DeAnzaJig rebuilt a longblock i bought and sent it to me and ive been meaning to put it in.

So far i've got toyota coolant, eneos trans fluid, oem oil filters, oil, dezod exhaust studs, oem exhaust gasket, new plugs, toyota sealant (for the oil pan), and i need an intake manifold gasket. If i'm missing anything else please say so.

Anyways, i know Garabaldy has a write up but its kind of confusing, I'd like to know what are the steps to removing the engine and putting the new long block in (remember im back to stock and i dont have intercooler pipes like he does). If anyone can do a detailed write up on a step by step i would REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

I'm gonna have 2 engine stands this weekend, one to put the new long block on and one to put the old one to transfer everything over to the new one.

Don't mean to sound like a dick. But I just posted a whole service manual for you. If u need more then then that I would not touch it.

that tells me how to pull apart the engine block and put it back together, my new engine block is assembled. I need help on how to pull the engine out and swap my new one in. this is how my new one sits currently:

14-22 on the service manual tells u all the mounts how to take of the axles etc. Some people take of the Hood and the front end like bumpers a/c condensor, radiotor and Hood. Also in the manual it shows what wire harnesses have to be disconnected.

If your patient I'm doing another rebuild in 1-2 weeks I can take a few pics and post em up. There are quit a few ways to remove the engine, like the saying goes "there's more than one way to skin a cat".

i just pulled my motor, bolt a belt or chain to the motor in car and connect to engine hoist (pulling motor out of top is quite easy) - remove bumper if you wish, hood. Disconnect everything (ECU from behind the glove box, gonna have to pull this through the firewall into engine bay), drain radiator and take hoses off, disconnect intake, header, vacuum lines etc, disconnect axles from motor/trans, loosen control arms, then literally you have 4 mounts to undue and then the steering rack and you can pull motor. its quite simple. i never took off my wheels either. i would check your throwout bearing while you have the tranny off old motor, possibly replace it anyway. check clutch etc.

Thanks soflo! Do i need to pull the main engine harness completely? All i did was disconnect it from the ECU? or can i leave it hanging drop the new one on the mounts and reconnect everything?

yes. pulling a motor is fairly straight forward like soflo described. If you have a full block coming out and a full block going in, all you have to do is disconnect everything from the block to make it look like the one going in. then do the reverse to put it all back together.

you do not need to disconnect the steering rack or control arms

^^everyone has their own way of doing it. thats not the particular way I do it but like I said before there is more than one way to skin a cat.

i think we may have damaged a sensor, when pulling the old engine, can someone tell me if i can fix this, or what my options are? also what sensor is that?

Thats the switch that goes to the power steering pump to bump the idle up about 200rpm when PS pressure increases (turning the wheel at idle). I busted it along time ago and never reconnected it. Thought I might run into an issue with it stalling when turning the wheel, but never had an issue. Hell now Im on ems so I dont have that functionality whatsoever, just set the overall idle a tad higher.

I cant, im back to stock remember...

What can i do about that? If i leave it unplugged and ignore it will i lose my power steering?

Sorry if my post was confusing, I left it unplugged on stock ECU with no real issue. Should you replace it? Probably, will it hurt anything? not really. At the worst itll make the car stall when cranking the steering wheel at idle. The purpose of the valve is to raise idle speed under power steering load to prevent a stall. However I ran on stock ECU without it for over a year with no real issue, and in my case it never caused a stall.

why did you pull the engine without the harness connectedsthats just more work.... save our self a head ache pull the harness out from the fire wall the grommet is easy to play with
