Sorry I dont have a degree in pipe fittings

Soooooo......

Does a -8AN=1/2" FIPS?

Could I use a 1/2" Fips x 3/8" Barb on the end of the Dezod rail?

-8AN is the bore size, which is equal to .6875” internally.

Ok, so if I want to put a barb fitting on there? What does the other end of the thread have to be? Or would I ahve to re-thread it? There has to be a thread size

As far as I know, AN fittings comes with a standard thread pattern and size would be -8 same as the ID of the rail.. from the pics posted it looks like you can do -8 AN male to barb fitting (barb size will depend on you fuel line size)

This should help clear things up!

"AN" (Army Navy) Sizes were established by the aerospace industry. The measurements represent the O.D. (outside diameter) of rigid metal tubes. Basically, dash sizes are the numerators of fractions with a denominator of 16.

EXAMPLE:
-6 is equal to 6/16 in. which is equal to 3/8 in.
-8 is equal to 8/16 in. which is equal to 1/2 in.

In the examples above, a -6 AN fitting would work with a pipe that has a 3/8 in. O.D. A -8 AN fitting would be used with 1/2 in. O.D. pipe.

Here's a simple chart, just in case you don't want to do the math.

-02 AN is equal to 1/8 in.
-03 AN is equal to 3/16 in.
-04 AN is equal to 1/4 in.
-05 AN is equal to 5/16 in.
-06 AN is equal to 3/8 in.
-08 AN is equal to 1/2 in.
-10 AN is equal to 5/8 in.
-12 AN is equal to 3/4 in.
-14 AN is equal to 7/8 in.
-16 AN is equal to 1 in.
-20 AN is equal to 1 1/4 in.
-24 AN is equal to 1 1/2 in.
-32 AN is equal to 2 in.

The most commonly used fittings are adapters. These adapters connect an AN fitting to a pipe thread fitting. Most fuel pumps, regulators, and canister type fuel filters, come with pipe thread inlet/outlet ports. In order to use braided line, the ports need to be changed to a AN type of fitting. This is when a "pipe to AN adapter" is needed. The most popular sizes used in fuel systems are the -6 and the -8 AN, although some high performance fuel pumps and regulators require a -10 AN fitting.

AN (Army-Navy) Fitting Thread Size Chart
AN Size=Hose Size==Thread Size
-3......... 3/16......... 3/8-24 SAE
-4......... 1/4........... 7/16-20 SAE
-6......... 3/8........ ...9/16-18 SAE
-8......... 1/2........... 3/4-16 SAE
-10........ 5/8........... 7/8-14 SAE
-12........ 3/4........... 1-1/16 SAE
-16......... 1............. 1-5/16 SAE
-20....... 1-1/4......... 1-5/8 SAE

lol from a different forum I already said I dont have a degree in pipe thread (or anything else for that matter lol)

So I guess this mean I could use a 3/4"MIP thread with a 3/8" barb! If that doesnt work out I will take it to Ferry Hydrolics and they will figure it out!

John,

You could do that or you could just purchase the entire return fuel system which has been planned out and provides every fitting you need That will be available next week sometime. Big announcements to come about that.

If you wanted to just use the rail and use your own fittings and design your own fuel system you can do that but you would need a -8 to -6 an because of the physical confinements of the 2AZ-FE cylinder head otherwise we would have used a -10 rail that we made as our first prototype.

In the long run it might be cheaper for you to purchase the entire fuel return kit than to piece it together. Obviously depending on your sources and abilities. The stuff from ferry is expensive for sure.

Don i was thinking of ordering the fuel rail with my injectors and depending on how things go i may go ahead and get the fuel pump too, but if i dont and want to leave myself some room for a return system could i order the return fuel rail and a plug from ya guys?

We are going to offer the fuel rail with an OEM barb like fitting and plug for guys that just want to run a fuel rail and stay returnless.

We are offering our Fuel return system in the next two weeks. This will include a fuel rail, all fittings and lines (pre assembled), fuel filter, fuel pump in a modified stock sending unit, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, gauge etc. I designed this kit so that nothing OEM needs to be modified just remove your stock parts and put them in a box so if one day you want to convert back to stock and part out you don't have to buy any new parts.

This is plug and play by definition.

Thanks Crush lol - My Fuel return system is almost complete. I am using the OEM feed line and was planning on using the OEM rail as well. My intank setup is already complete and re-installed consisting of Walbro 255lph pump, PTuning FPR Plug, and custom 3/8" return line. So depending on how compatable this rail would be to convert over to my setup, I was contemplating on possibly getting this.

^^ i think the major difference would be in the sump assembly/sending unit, ptuning you use the stock feed fitting and modify a bit for the return.. i think dezod comes with a modified sending unit already for a direct plug and play, and uses an fitting instead of the stock feed fitting
