5k sounds about right, change it every 3 months and your just wasting money. Some synthetic oil do last over 5k, try search about the forums, stop assume.

^^ totally untrue. You can NEVER change your oil too often. Granted, you dont need to do it constantly, but the shorter interval the oil is in the engine, the cleaner and better for the engine. I use Mobile 1 and change at 4k, the same as in all my cars. They also all run for 150,000, 200,000 or more miles with no problem and little to no oil burning even after that time. My outlook is why buy synthetic, run it to its max life and change it when it is in the same shape as conventional oil after 3k. If you are going to do that, you really arent getting much out of it. I use it to change it at 4k and it still be in great shape, so my engine is never running on end of life oil. But, there are a ton of topics on this already...

Hey, I use amsoil on my tc too and I change my at every 5000 miles. The owner of the parts store has a porshe and he changes his oil every year. He says that he just tops off the oil when it is low. I thought about it, but I still change mine at every 5000 miles. I think that amsoil is good, but I also think that oil will loose its viscosity after a certain point. So I wouldn't push the LIMIT!

Dosnt matter. oil shouldnt just sit for a years time in any vehicle. besides, that guy should know better than to not change the oil but once a year.

Hell, most porche's I have seen leak and burn so much oil they are practically "changed" every few thousand miles anyway
