Anyone not using a hood liner on an oem hood? Mine is falling off and I'm wondering if the heat from the SC will f up the paint if I remove it?

...if I remember correctly its more for fire suppression and noise than anything else.

 

i dont see it to be a fire suppression. Noise, yes it does filter some noise. I havent been using mine like 2 yrs now, no issues..

 

going on 3 years now without one...

And neither of you have had any issues with the extra heat from FI?

 

no... lol my hood gets hot but its nothing major.... just dont touch it after doing some pulls..

 

i removed mine cuz it was tearing up and also because im not trying to get mesothiolioma from the asbestos.....havent u seen those comercials on tv....and dont you wonder why they dont make buildings with it anymore....

 

mine is gone and my turbo is very close to the hood, no problems for me

The clear coat on my hood started to melt in an area i didnt have that foil heat shield stuff. This was with a dezod turbo kit though

 

hmm... maybe I'll toss some of that foil stuff on right above the SC.

 

shouldnt have problem with sc, on turbo i understand coz the extreme heat is generated by the engine exhaust gas not by friction and air compression

 

I have had mine off for over a year. Never had a problem with the turbo hurting the paint, however I don't have factory paint on my hood anymore.
