Default Auto tC owner needs some direction.

I want more power. I wanted the TRD S/C because it kept my tC's warranty. Now, I hear that many of you are having problems with it and suggest not buying it.

This upsets me. I was SO stupid to trade in my '03 V6 Stang. I bought the tC because it was better on gas, better in the snow... but it is slower than I'd like.

I spent 23k on my tC after tax. I should have gotton the Chevrolet S/C Cobalt SS. I pay $200 a month for my tC and the car is under my dad's name.

I've been told that I can't trade in my tC til it's paid off. lol. I still have 18k to go. Thought I'd just get a CAI and HEADERS.. but I doubt I'll feel any respectable gain.

I just wanted to throw all that at all of you in hopes of someone replying to this saying something that will help me out. I'd deeply appreciate that.

And BTW, is it possible to finance the TRD S/C by itself? Like make monthly payments on it? Thanks.

Let's see here...

I'd check with the problems you're hearing about... I think many of them are when people have made modifications to the SC (pulley swap?).

Fuel Efficient - Winter Traction - Fast = Pick 2.

Who told you that you can't trade it in? Essentially you'd be paying off one loan with another if you trade it in. They'll "pay" you so much on the trade, which will be put towards your current loan, then you'll have another loan for the new car + difference of other loan. And how was your tC $23k? What options did you get? Cause that's a lot.

As for financing the S/C... if you can get a separate loan, then yes. But you'd have to get the loan from a bank though, and not through the dealer.

Accessories that made my tC 23k:

TYC Tail Lights _ Pedestal Spoiler _ Ground Effects Kit _ Fog Lights _ OBX Silver Sport Pedals _ Amber LED Light Enhancements _ Auto Dimming Mirror _ 10" Bazooka Subwoofer _TRD Sport Muffler _ TRD Front Strut Tie Bar

The car is under my dad's name and he wont let me trade it in for another car. The car in Toyota's eyes is payed for. My payments go to my parents.

I was actually thinking about getting an xB. I'd have less power, but better gas milage. And the xB made a huge name for itself in automotive history. Then in 3 years I could always buy the soon-to-be released ZPI kit which gives the xB 170whp.

IDK.. I'd be losing a lot of nice features that the tC has if I traded it in for an xB.

What do you think?

---

I also sent you this in a PM.

I guess I should just go the CAI / HEADER / S-Pipe route and deal with the power. It would be cheaper and stuff.

And are headers legal? I heard they weren't. But it seems like everyone has them.

You should be OK in NY unless you're in a county with Emissions Testing, then you should check out your local laws and regulations.

Get the supercharger installed properly (that means everything should be installed and done so to proper specs, not just thrown together) and slap an NST 9.5psi pulley on there. You will be happy

Note that there have NOT been a bunch of people experiencing problems with the s/c. There have been 2 people that I can find.

I have one and love it and have had no problems with it.

You'll be fine in NY as long as you don't throw any CEL's or other bad codes. Get the supercharger, definetely going to be something awesome.

i spent about 23k for my tc. emx rims, ped spoiler, led light, fogs... plus ext warranty 1316, and lo jack 450. i'm planning on cancelling lojack and ext warranty though, i'm not planning on keeping the tc for the long hull... so that should be about 21k for my tc out the door

keep the car. dont do anything to it. u dont need more power for the street anyways. street racing is stupid if u're thinking about getting more power to do it.
