Yes you can. If you search for Automatic Turbo, you will see a ton of threads on this. The cliff versions are you can safely turbo a auto. It would be a good idea to buy a tranny cooler and upgrade to a better tranny oil as well. For even more performance, ZPI offers an upgraded tranny option for about $1300 or you can upgrade the valve body for around $400. Do a search and see what others say and if you still have q's i'm sure everyone will be more than happy to help.

Well it's right there before his eyes. Doesn't matter what your age is.

Hell - I turboed my Auto. Didn't pay too much attention to that thread...

i know that, thus the "haha" it was that or "lol" but everyone that says lol needs to be shot in the face. I am very familiar with 318s work and posts, and I found it funny and ironic for HIM to be the one to post the SARCASTIC non-answer. It is the first time I have seen him give a non-literal dismissive answer.

And a guy from jersey saying ******** translates roughly to Louisiana to "very humorous yet upstanding gentleman"...

I suggest you invest some money in the automatic tranny if you want to go turbo -Not just an ATC cooler. If you put 220-240HP on the camry auto tranny I don't think it's going to hold up more than 1 year too much torque at lower engine RPM's will result in a lot of wear-n-tear for the transmission.

That's been my experience with Stage 0 and A/T -build up the tranny before you go turbo or prepare to spend a lot more cash latter.

really? peteyd has had his turbo on FOREVER and i do not here of him having anything more than a tranny cooler... for modest setups not going above 250whp (which will not cause any slippage) you thhink that the tranny needs to be actually upgraded? if true, toyota really gave us a POS...

Alright let me chime in here.

The dezod stage 1 kit for the auto will get you around 225whp at 5psi and you can beat it up for days and days and days. No problems. When you start going into the 250+ range ull get problems. If you stay basic youll be ok. Same as with the greddy kit,

If you want to go big build the tranny. I have a tranny for sale.

The power level you want depends on the amount of cash you wanna spend.

btw, problems that occur when u start making more power than the tranny can handle is ur shift points will become later, when shifting when u redline itll begin to slip and rev against the motor, you can check ur tranny by looking at the color of the transmission fluid. It should be red. When I changed my trany it was BLACK!

hey man, i have an auto TC turboed and the tranny is fine. It can hold alot believe it or not. I talked to Chris Rado and the World Racing Team and they told me that the automatic transmission can hold about twelve pounds of boost on a T3/T4 Hybrid, and thats alot of WHP there. Anyways you might wanna check your homework. Im pushing 9 LBS and my shifting points are right on and im running 310WHP. That is finally tuned, and ready to go. So you might wanna not tell guys you know nothing about.

so i am hearing anything from 240 to 310 is safe for the auto... I would assume that the safe point is something between there.
I am shooting for 250whp, so I figure I'll be safe, and not have to stress too much...
