Default balance shaft ?

Hey guys in know i should have probably put this in the drivetrain and power section, but im looking for help from boosted guys. I was wondering what your opinions and how important it is to delete the balance shaft and going with a harmonic balancer when building a forged motor. I knowthe balance shaft is supposed to reduce vibrations, but will it cause damage to leave it in...

Im looking for more a more reliable motor to boost on over ridiculous power looking to make 325hp and 325 tq.

When I took my balance shafts out I bought the ATI Damper. A friend of mine took his balance shafts out and still ran stock pulley. His car ran perfectly fine up until he sold it. How much effect deleting the balance shafts has on the motor, that I dont know. I bought the damper for piece of mind.

Toyota says that the balance shaft is meant to counter the ignition cycles of each cylinder. They don't elaborate on whether taking it off is an issue (shorter/longer engine life), they just say it reduces vibrations, and less vibrations means longer lasting and smoother running engines.

i'm running mine with out the balance shaft and no dampers. i don't notice any vibrations. and you most definitely don't need to worry about removing it to make 325. heck if you get a good tune you can go for 325 on the stock block.

Well you know how it is when u can push something when i say 325 i pretty much mean 350 lol but i know 325 isn't a huge number for a stock block really i mean im making 310 now......but i really want the reliability of the forged internals and im planning this engine build just didnt know how many of us were leaving the balance shaft in or out

I appreciate the help

Ur best bet would be to remove em if ur gonna build the motor. Makes no sense to spend all that time & $ and have them let go. Ive had one instance where the balance shafts let go on a stock motor. Plus, that 325-350 is gonna eventually become 400-450. Lol. Boost is an addiction and ur always gonna want more.

also, if you're building the block, you can have the block rebalanced without the balance shaft. thats what my friend did ^^

When the balance shafts are removed and the rotating assembly is balanced you free up HP also.

Balanced internals with a damper helps also.
