Default Balance Shaft Removal

I'm looking for info from people who have done this successfully.

Removing the oil pan, there is another cover that contains the two balance shafts. Removing this cover I can see a gear on my crank shaft that drives the balance shafts.

How did you plug or cover the oil jet for the Balance shaft bearing? Also, I only see one oil jet and I can follow the oil path to both shaft bearings, am I missing another one?

So far, I can see two options:
1. Drill and tap the oil jet to plug it.
2. Fabricate a block off plate that uses the stock bolt pattern for the shaft cover.

Is one way preferable to another?

P.S. The bottom end was balanced already so I can not removed the balance gear from the crank (Grrr) so now I'm stuck with that extra weight.

Thanks!

AJ

AJ, I was gonna do this when I built my motor but I heard mixed ideas about this. I heard the vibration was horrible for only gaining like 10whp

I actually did, yesterday and they don't have a kit. Please pull your head out of ZPI's anus for just a second. They are not the be all, end all of Scion modifications.

They promised a kit 4 months ago but never delivered...

Sound familiar?

Balance Shaft removal kit? 4 months late and counting.
Motor Mounts? I think that one is over a year late and counting.
Stage 2? Well, I took care of that one for them.
Engine Air Diffuser? That one was at least 3 months late.
02 simulator? That POS never worked and it took them 6 months to stop selling it for $100
The list goes on and on... You know, sometimes you act like a Republican... oh wait, YOU ARE!

I've actually heard from the SRT guys that it's necessary to remove them on high (400+) HP motors. Nemo from Rage Tech is supposed to look at my block to see how similar it is to the SRT and then Billet Design will fabricate something from that recommendation.

I was hoping that someone might have completed this already and could answer my questions or provide more insight.

Keep in mind that my motor was balance without the shafts so I definitely don't need them, I only need to plug the oil hole so I don't loose oil pressure.

I know you were joking, but you need to understand that if you and I are going to be friendly you need to NOT blindly talk about ZPI products that DON'T EXIST. They do that enough for themselves ;)

IF they had a product that I needed, I would surely purchase it from them, but if I have a choice... Not so much!

Would be a nice to know type item if others are already doing it as my motor is in progress and I planned to remove them anyways. If it is not posted in the open, no biggie, will just take a little more time for me to do it my way *LOL* Also it is not about the hp gain, it is about the rotational mass removed. Same effect as a light flywheel, no mega hp gain, but 1st and 2nd gear pull even harder and throttle responce feels micho better.
