im guessing this is going to be a very bad issue in the future..

the stock vvti gear isint made to be strong enough to do those kind of lifts!

Maybe get a custom pin made! , that happeneds at 8k rpms..

Buh bye motor

It was the dow pin failure in the actaul cam itself that caused the issue

The VVTi gear has the reciever for the dow to insert..

Im guessing the steel was flawed possibly

LUCKILY my motor is fine as it happened at idle, at the right time I suppose.

Nice, is this Justin?

Good call.

I have seen this on aftermarket cams on the 350z as well. Timing gets really skewed and it sends the cam sensor for a loop. The dowl pin actually oblongs the cam. Good times. THese need larger pins.

Yeah this is Justin.. lol.. Cars running great besides this issue sometimes wierd things happen. I got the new cams today. I did the valve lash today, and whenI recieve the few shims I need tom. eve. I will have it back on the road tom night.

Ive got days of tuning in this thing, but its finally paid off! Car pulls very hard, I am curious to see if we are one of the highest WHP returnless fuel system scions.. we are running a 255lph pump I fabricated to work with the stock cage perfectly, and also 700cc injectors..

Here is a vid of the car on 19-20 psi VP C16, 16 degrees of timing, and 11.7-8 afr's
redline is up 900 from stock around 7400

It spins hard in 2nd and 3rd as you can see on the 19" HRE's

Car is back up and running, finished putting the new cams, and VVTi pulley on about 5-6 hours ago..

i've got a question, i'm getting a set of BC stage 2 cams in my head which is getting built at Dezod. Is there like anything they can do to prevent this from happening ?

Also, i will have completely brand new built motor ( short block and head ) i understand that because of the cams and timing the idle will be rough untill it is tuned.

Now, how can i break the motor in and dyno it IF i won't be able to really drive it to break it in ?
