Default Black Smoke w/ trd s/c

My car blows out black smoke when im on it. Usally it blows a puff when i just gun it and then one puff for every shift. Is this normal? My car isn't tuned yet so mayb that can play a factor in it.

If by tuned you mean you haven't gotten the ECU flash done, do it.
Keep an eye on your oil level, man.

yeah, you shouldn't be driving a supercharged tc without the factory reflash.

It is a proven factor you 100% do not want to drive w/o the flash. Take our word on this.

Hmm do you have different pulleys on the s/c? Why would you need tuning unless your running higher than stock boost?

because they reflash your ecu when you get the s/c installed - a few guys ruined their cars by not getting it done. You do not even want to drive your car w/o getting it flashed.

I have the s/c with the reflash and a 9.5lb pulley installed and I get that black smoke at high rpm and when shifting too. I have an emanage, but it's sitting on my kitchen table. I figure a proper tuning would take care of the smoke. I have a stock exhaust and I love smoking civics with their loud as$ crap mufflers, but I'm sure that puff of smoke makes them wonder what the hell is under the hood. :o

btw, How many miles to you have? I'm coming up on 90k, so maybe that has something to do with it too

i use 93 octane gas and mine blows out black smoke with the reflash. ive been told its normal. i would take it to the dealer and have them look at it. if they say its normal, have them document that in the system. when i suspected my s/c of bearing failure, i told the dealer its making a ____ty cricket noise and they diagnosed it, said ti was normal and documented - "customer states supercharger is making abnormal sound", "diagnosed and sound is normal". a few days ago it got worse so i took it in and they looks at the historical notes and didnt ask any questions, ordered me a new s/c.

its been proven the reflash on stock boost runs rich, it also pulls lots of timing

Mine blew black smoke also, even with 9.5psi pulley, but i had a bov so it ran extra rich between shifts.
