Default bored and have a question

ok so.... im bored outta my mind its 10:10 am here in korea and iv been looking at threads

my question is why do sooooooo many people think that 9-10 psi is some kinda limit for our motor i cant think of any turbo kit out right now that will make 350hp on 10 psi most will make 300 and evn that is questionable, sorry sorry giving my 2 cents took draxcaliber 14 psi with a gt30/28 on a turbo netics kit to make 302 hp and he for sure has all supporting mods

took me 13 psi on a 50 trim to4e to make 300 that was also on a 2.5 exhaust tho

now im currently sitting at 13 psi at 330whp on a 60-1 which is a fairly large turbo (just outdated)

no no the question isnt why im making such lil power its well known since im on a 2.5 exhaust and ebay intercooler

the tunes arent the issue with me and drax its likely our dyno LOL ptuning is who tuned us

this thread is more just me telling people 10 psi shouldnt be what you are sooo scared of as 10 psi in 2011 is normal and average boost

also a 16g can hit 311 on 13 psi and even more but thats not a good comparison as it quickly drops before redline

its not psi thats you should be afraid of, its the power. power destroys engines, not boost pressure

the more psi u run the more chances u have at blowing a stock motor soo i think most ppl r fine with 10 psi making around 300hp. which 300hp is a pretty decent street car. and u can beat ur car a lot more. if ur over 320 i wouldnt beat on ur car soo much if ur stock more because ur close to ur motor limit.

ding ding we have a winner!!! more specifically its actually torque that kills motors keep the torque aorun the low 300s and youll be good

i beat my car every day motor still check out to have perfect compression and leakdown anyways its not the pressure its the heat that comes with pressure 15 psi can be blowing lots of heat on a smaller turbo but on a big turbo 15 psi is cold air and still prob not even near the efficientcy of a turbo

Psi to hp varies with turbo size.

another good point, with that being said people need not ask how much boost they can run, but how much torque/power they can make

Spoken like a true boss! lol

Fortifying the engine internals is the next bet in gaining more output. Our Scions are great for boosting, but too much boost will certainly push it too hard. It'd require some heavy modding to return those kinds of numbers, 350hp at the wheel. And in my opinion, it isn't worth it. Seems way too dangerous, especially since these are 4 bangers.

I'd rather punch it at ~300whp and have a car that lasts longer than one at ~360whp. It's still faster than most cars on the road anyway. We're the fuel economy nation now - it's not really about power like it used to be.

Let's not forget the impracticality of making over 300whp with a fwd street car. A few months back I was talking to a boosted TC guy making 350whp who was running low 14's in the 1/4. My 240whp A/T XB2 runs 14.1-14.3 all day long on street tires. I could turn up the boost, make better dyno numbers but actually harnessing that power on the street is a different matter. Kind of like how the GTI wins every comparison test with the much more powerful MS3.

Borderguy I'm making similiar numbers on just 10psi I wonder what kind of numbers id have if I were to throw the car on a dynojet since different dynos give diferent numbers as well, which is another factor in this discussion

These are the secret weapon for big power on the street... Lots of 600+whp Honda guys run them and actually hook second

http://www.mandhtires.com/store.php?...on=show_detail

FYI, my car makes ~500whp on low boost and Id never go back to 300ish. 500 is way more fun

Oh forgot to mention this is on built bottom end - just saying 500whp is still fun even with fwd
