Default Bouncing idle (after tune)

Posting this because I wasn't able to find much fix info.

When I was on the base map (AEM FIC) the car idled just like stock. So I get her tuned and this started happening, when coming to a stop the idle drops to ~500rpm then bounces to ~1200rpm, then evens out at 700rpm. Usually this happens twice when shes warmed up. Two bounces then it evens. It has stalled a few times when the idle drops.

The guy at Churchs said it had something to do with the air turbulence near the MAF (Pull Thru), he mentioned the stock air box might help as well as recirc'ing the bov. I'm up for fabricating a tube to the stock airbox but I'm concerned with the air flow. I already have the fittings to recirc the bov just need to take a trip to the welder. Before that I'd like to see if anyone else could shed some light on this.

Other info: checked for leaks, No CEL

does the fic have its own independant vac source? no changes to your set up right? this is pretty common on the fic. chrush will chime in he is really good with it.

the only reason i asked is because that is the ony fixable issue i've come across.

bouncy idle is super common on the fic after a while.

mine has done that for as long as I can remember. When I was using 700cc deatschwerks, I fine tune it to the point that it minimized the jump around to almost nothing (like stock). Later on decided to try 800cc big red's and the problem came back, fluctuated and died a lot when coming to a stop. Went back to the 700's and the problem was still there.

One thing I tried was to richen up the 400rpm and lower fuel once. Reason behind it is that when you let go off the gas, car goes rich and the ecu will pull so much fuel that it will make the car way to lean killing the car. If the 400rmp and lower fuel table boxes are a tad rich, there's a good chance it will catch up and prevent the car from dying. Include boxes up to right before 14.7 psia. (Got it from Dezod) Currently using 1000cc I'D and haven't had the issues I had with the 800cc big red.

Give the stock box theory a try and let us know how it went, but to me tuning is everything.

if it is in fact the FIC then perhaps I should just replace it with the ems.

that was very common for me because of the draw thru set up. since your venting to atmosphere, usually during a sudden let off it will run rich for a second causing the motor to bog down, then it will be corrected after a second or 2 once the air has vented.

It also happens when I'm reversing out of the driveway or at a drive thru restaurant. Guess i'll recirc the bov this weekend and go from there.

Clean ur maf sensor and check and make sure ur maf voltages are set linearly. I had the same issue the other day. Fuel trims were outta whack so i was toying w my maf voltage and than my idle started surging. I cleaned off my maf sensor tweaked the voltages and everything is back to normal. Im not sayin this is def it, but its a start.

Cleaning the maf sensor was the first thing I did, sadly it didnt seem to do anything. Ill try researching the voltages this afternoon. I'm still leaning towards buying the ems2 but in the back of my mind I know not everyone with a FIC is having this issue.

Thanks again guys for chiming in.

Open up the FIC software and read to me what values are in your idle area on the main fuel map, O2 map and ignition map.

Also, what's your injector response time in the options menu?
