HKS sounds like a bird with that whistle sound. I like the way it functions though. I've got the Type RS and it's pretty loud.

Edit: check out nd4spd4atc's thread. he has a vid and you can hear the type rs blow off. Rhythmnsmoke has a ton of vids on youtube with the HKS bov.

HKS > Greddy RS > TiAL.

Multiple cars, engines, boost levels to back it up

have had both but the rs was louder but that may be because of the 2 different turbos and boost pressure

Loudest valve is the Turbo XS RFL. Sounds good but very loud.

are you talking about just scions? If you are, disregard the following.... cause greddy rs < tial. the hks is an amazing design but the greddy is in no way close to the tial.

HKS > Greddy RS > TiAL.

Heh, on evom the HKS is rated worse than stock, with the tial coming out on top for the most part. there is a very strong and seething hatred for the SSQ in the evo community :p

As for the topic at hand, the sound of your diverter valve shouldn't even register on your list of concerns. All you need to know is if it will hold the amounst of boost you're running and if it recirculates/can be set to recirculate or not.

If it can hold the amount of boost and recirculate it instead of atmospheric vent, then you're set.

If it doesn't recirculate, expect extremely rich conditions on shifts and stalling/idle hiccups.

little sidetrack...

what causes the rich condition in between shifts with an atmospheric BOV?

MAF sensor already registered x amount of air going into the system during on-throttle situation, get off the gas and Y amount of air is released from the system leaving you with Z amount of air but the engine still puts in gas according to X amount because thats what the MAF sensor said was going in?

you got it!

but honestly, i think people blow this problem up more than should be. i have never stalled before and don't have idle problems so idk why some people have so much trouble with an atmo bov. i have the hks though and supposedly its the best performing bov.
