Built Motor & Coolant Baffle 07+ 2AZFE
So the 07+ 2az's have a "coolant baffle" inside the engine block which I have provided a picture of the baffle below. It is made of plastic. Is this necessary? I know that the 1st gen 2az did not have this. Sorry for the quality of the picture.
I dont know if its really needed. When i build my engine ima throw it back in...didnt hurt before so shouldnt hurt now. though i do wonder if you would get better flow without it.
Umm, so dont laugh at me, but when I re-assembled my built motor, I misplaced it somewhere in my garage, so I reassembled without it
I found it later, but not having it doesn't seem to have an affect on anything, and I have almost a yr and 15k miles on my motor
Lol while honestly not sure of what it does, I am sure its there for a good reason. I do not think a bunch of engineers would just slap a piece of plastic into the engine. I would replace it if it was there.
didnt think it would matter but im still curious why it was there..
there was a p-tuning thread talking about this before...ima see if i can find it again.
how (does it improve cooling) and where are the hot spots?
Im trying to get to the nitty gritty of it. stuff like why it wasnt used before. there was a good discusion about it in a p-tuning thread i think. Have you seen it?
