Default BYPASS CLOSED LOOP(open loop tuning) questions

okay aimed at gurus....i know some of the people here have gotten around our self learning pesty ecu by just unplugging the front o2 sensor thus bringing the ca rinto a constant open loop...

how did you guys like that, and draw back beside the check engine light?

i feel like it would make life soo much easier

Not really. PM crush02342002 he tuned my car in open loop. It isn't as easy as you would think on our cars. Any little variance causes a large effect overall. Plus when running the A/C over not you will have variances. Unless you want to change your tune every time you run the A/C you will have a good 1-1.5afr difference across the board.

Then you probably could do it without a problem. Just cut the o2 wire on your harness so you can reattach if you don't like it. You will throw a P2237 code or something like that. crush02342002 might have a basemap at that tune you could run, just PM him.

im tuning on safc so no base tunes for me...and theres better ways at approaching not running a front o2, like unpkuging the connector under the hood..

i run open loop....i like it....although if i had to go back....i would keep it in closed loop. theres no reason to run open loop. people say you cant partial tune, well you can with the greddy ultimate. you make a base fuel map for wot, then use the airflow adjustment map for partial throttle. only reason why i did it was i didnt have 220 to drop on an o2 sensor but i plan on getting it back on. you will never have as good of gas mileage compared to closed loop. plus you loose cruise control...well not loose it, but say im cruising at 15.0 afr....as soon as i turn cruise on it drops to 11.0.

with all that said....just get someone to tune your car with closed loop running. but if you want a tune thats open loop, i have tons. you have to tune alot more running open loop. i use i think 6 maps compared to using like 2-3 running closed loop.

Tape up the connector and don't leave it open under the hood.

I hope so too. You're just gonna have to adjust your boost level to match the SAFC and injector limitations. Even 200whp will still be a lot more fun than 150whp. You can always upgrade the injectors and EM later. Then you can get your A/C back for those 95F, 95% humidity days in July and August.
