Default California State Referee help!!

Got pulled over a few days ago by the CHP far far from the freeway... Anyways, he made me pop my head and saw my turbo set up. Now I have to go to the state referee to get my ticket signed off. Help! How do I avoid going back to stock. It will be too expensive.

I hate to say it but youve got to ditch the turbo long enough to get it looked over...as far as i know thats the only way.

buy a new oil pan and exhaust manifold gasket, spend a day uninstalling the kit, get it checked out, then reinstall the kit again. How's that hard?

My head is port and polished, low compression pistons and straight pipe exhaust. I dont have any of my stock parts(dumb mistake) so replacing everying will be expensive. My uncle lives out of state. Could it be possible to "move" out of state if i get a Texas Drivers licence before my court date?

Technically yes, but you'll have to register the car in Texas as well

You would have to do an out of state registration. but yes you can. just so you know the stock exhaust manifold is around 800 bucks itself.

When are you going to the state ref? I live in Cali too, and I still have my stock exhaust mani BUT it's in another state at the moment. Should be back soon. If I get it back in time, you can use it.

i'd say move to michigan... but the whole find a job thing wouldn't work here lol in order to register a car here all you have to have is proof of insurance and the title be clear and none of those smog testing or anything! i don't think anything is illegal here lol

Lol thanks guys for all the advise. I don't really plan on moving out of state. Just thought I could present all the paperwork saying I live in Texas to get off the hook. Anyone know about texas law? What does it take to register a car? Are they picky about aftermarket performance part?

all you need is an adress to register the car in and insurance (if im not mistaken youll need title to prove its your car or anything that says its yours)...stay away from the big city since most have smoge checks now such as Houston, Dallas, Austin, ect. Mine is registered in Cleveland Texas (liberty county) since all they do is a visual and gas cap. oddly enough last year i passed inspection with a big fat turbo sticking out.

i haven't figured out why all of you cali people even bother to try stuff since you guys have the worst and most strict laws out there regarding anything. i'd move in a heartbeat if i had to live out there with so many damn laws and regulations on cars

OK. It will take me 23 hours to get to Houston, Texas which doesnt work for since Crush said "stay away from the big city since most have smoge checks now such as Houston, Dallas, Austin, ect". What about Nevada or Arizona? Oregon? Somewhere close but safe.
