Default Check out what I found!

I got me some "free" headers tonight. I was driving and for the past few weeks my car has been having issues running and making boost. I was basically getting hardcore Compressor Surge. Well tonight it got so bad that the car would hardly run. I had already checked out everything I could think of, but then I figured I would drop the midpipe and see if more of my Pre-cat had maybe broken off and was somehow blocking the cat. Sure enough when I pulley off my midpipe I was greeted by this:

I looked up into my exhaust manifold and I can now see CLEARLY the 02 sensor and the runners off the block. Thats really my story as to how I got some free headers. Now I dont think Im going to actually go out and buy headers because mine is hollowed out. lol

That's crazy! I have knocked out the inside of a cat on purpose, but I have never seen one just come out like that before.

i heard on the news that the cat material is worth a lot now and theives are stealing the cats off of suvs and such because they are easy to access.

but ya, that's weird that it would come out on the stock manifold. i can see if it were an aftermarket, but stock!?

High EGT's will easily cause your cat material to become brittle. This happens alot with turbo cars that have precats. It's caused by lean AFR's under partial throttle boosting situations.

My father has a shop and when he gets junk cars me and my brother torch out the cats and sell them for like 175 a peice! Easy money.

be prepared to see this happen more often...i have a feeling it has a lot to do with all the ethanol in the gas nowadays...ive talked to a few mechanics and its becoming a widespread problem. If I remember correctly there was a member on here stating something similar not to long ago also sayin somethin about the gas quality affecting cats as well
