Default Custom turbo kit ?'s

I am looking into buying a turbo from a friend of mine, its a TD05 16g just like the one ZPI offers in there kits. I am gonna get it for a good deal, but i am wondering about how hard it is going to be to custom a turbo kit. I just going to go stage 0, no intercooler as of yet. I was wondering if anyone has done this before, i don't think ZPI sells there downpipe, but i plan on buying everything else from them. From my understanding Stage 0 requires no ECU upgrades, am i right? I will be running 6psi. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks John

I put together my own stage 0 recently. All on paper of course. You should probably get some injectors and new plugs to go with it. The downpipe was my main worry as I wasnt sure how much it would cost to get one custom made. I figured about $200 max from an exhaust shop. The whole setup I think would have run me about $1700 or so give or take a few things. This would have been with self installation of course. Good luck!

Only buying a turbo?

I believe the zpi stage 0 kit runs no fuel management or injectors. ECU is pretty smart and adjusts itself from what i've read.

So you'll still need a manifold, wastegate, downpipe/s-pipe, couplings, clamps, oil lines, fittings, vaccum hose, vaccum fittings, pan fitting, BOV (if you want, zpi stage 0 dosen't have one if i'm not mistaken), and gaskets, and charge piping.

I think that's all, haha
You can get all that from zpi

I just finish my own stage 3 set up and I don't know in yhe states But here on PR I pay $1000 for the complete exhaust system including manifold , 3"downpipe, 3" exhaust pipe, 3" intake and 3" intercooler pipes. I spend like $8000 on my complete set up!

I am spending about 150 bucks on the turbo. As far as for the entire set up im not really sure i would like to keep it under 1200 but i donno how thats gonna go. I wanted to go with a custom kit that way i dont have to dish out over 2600 at once. With a custom kit i can slowly build the turbo set up before it even gets on the car. I really would like to know if ZPI would sell me some of there parts they include with there stage 0 kit. Mainly the downpipe, its a direct fit to the turbo im looking at buying. Im not trying to be cheap its a good deal im just not sure if a custom set up is worth it. Any advice would be great. Before I buy the turbo. Thanks

Personally... I would just save the money up and purchase the Stage 0 out right.. I know it's hard to be pateint and wait to save the money... but it is even worse to have parts staring you in the face that you cant use.. Plus you will have a kit that is built, tested and proven to work for your car...

Maybe waiting to reunite the money neede for stage 0 is better since your peace of mind will be better knowing that the kit has been tested. If reuniting the budget needed is hard then go with your custom setup. At least that's what I would do.

You can also PM them and ask for one of their kits without the items you already have and see if they can discount those for you to be able to buy it.

I am pretty sure that you buy each Stage 0 Part individually.

We do sell all of our parts of our kits individually for just the scenario.
