hit up nvmytc because he has done idk how many turbo installs and you will only need to do the smog check 6 years after owning the car (that is if you bought it new from the dealer) and after that it's every 2 years.

Question ughhh

hopefully there aren't any cops here...but uhh, can you take someone else's stock tC, and use that to smog check your car? of course you need to swap license plates...but does the smog check place check VINs?

how much do you guys (or people u've worked with) charge to install a turbo?

you will get turned away especially the way the ecomony is right now and how strict the law is, they have to check everything to make sure it's the correct car because might come back and bite then in the ****.

I do local installs on the cheap...exp how things are right now as well as those poor souls who have been craped on by a shop...everyone could use a break.

Thanks for the reference Cat

IT really depends on what kit you have. If you have a "Universal" kit AKA Ebay, it can cost around 500. Thats because I have to custom route the intercooler piping, it takes a LONG time

IF you have a bolt on kit (Dezod, Greddy, P Tuning) I charge 250. If you want me to weld in the oil pan fitting its an extra $10

I also can powder coat your piping/turbo/wastegate/BOV/Valve cover if you need

Pm me if your serious

^that sounded a lil high so i did some research (given that i was gonna get a wrx)

wikipedia says that in 2001 it was @ 13.8 psi, but from 2002-2005 it went down to a max of 11.6 psi

I do installs myself also. Installed a few turbo kits. Not that hard, as long as everything semi-fits. If not then you have to start chopping up pipes and re-welding things. That's when it sucks

^ hahaha. ya i heard the avg install time is about 5 hours.

and denise (dirtyblonde13) sold her tC for an evo =/
she also got pulled over for her exhaust, that's why i plan to stick with my stock exhaust and avoid attention from the piggys

me?

It doesn't take that long to install a kit. 3-4 hours sounds right for an experienced installer with no major modification/custom fabbing needed

as far as Denise getting pulled over for exhaust I'm sure it wasn't just that. I ran 3 exhausts on previous tcs and never had a problem as long as I didn't do anything stupid.
