Default DG Spec places 3rd in 25 Hours of Thunderhill

Some of you may know, DG Spec team spear headed by Scion Racing's own Dan Gardner, competed this past weekend in the world famous 25 Hours of Thunderhill Endurance Race. For those that don't know, this is the most brutal testament of quality, sportsmanship, team efforts and motorsports strategy combined in one sitting. It's 25 hours of non-stop road racing with the exception of pit stops for tire changes and refueling. Truly a no sleep, multi-driver event.

Dan's team runs our Dezod S1 turbo system on their car, and many people whom Dan consulted with said that a turbo setup would not last 25 hours regardless of whom made it. They said there is a reason why OE manufacturers do not enter too many of their turbo cars into this race. They said no turbocharged car would be able to do it. Dan sought out to prove the competition wrong and succeeded.

I won't go into too much detail as that will be covered in the formal press release about the event as well as the TV series that will air January next year featuring them, but I can tell you that Dan's team put on one hell of a show. They truly showed what they where made of when it came down to it.

Let's just say that about 21 hours into the race, they where dominating the competition in E1. They where first place by about 28 laps or so when a fitting on the oil cooler cracked internally and began to spew oil intermittently ultimately leading to a motor failure from lack of oil. The car was slung into the pits lifeless and the DG Team took to a vote. The decision was unanimous to swap the trans and engine, put it back into the car and continue racing. They finished the entire job in 2.5 hours and still commanded a lead on 4th place by about 1 lap. They got back onto the track and took it home for the last 6 hours by taking 3rd place.

I feel a picture is worth a 1,000 words and in this scenario, knowing the background, 1,000,000 words.....

We all have something to be proud of as Scion owners! Hats off to Dan's team.
