boost controller. i got one used for 50 dollars. a new spring is 30, so for 20 more dollars you can get a boost controller and change it to whatever PSI you want! and it's easier becaue you don't have to take apart your wastegate.

No no no. You cant run whatever boost you want. If that was the case whats the point of different spring rates? Rule of thumb is don't double the wastegate spring rate. Because you will get boost spike. Meaning it won't always be steady at the psi you set it to. And that's a no no. Unless you wanna set it at 12 and by mistake it spikes to 16psi lol. It doesn't always happen but can especially when cold weather comes along.

Useful info thanks, I guess I'll start looking for a ebc. How hard are these to hook up?

Manual boost controllers are very simple, reliable because they're fully mechanical, and much cheaper than an electronic boost controller, but if you want an EBC go for it!

I usually just change the spring - You can get one for $20-$35 usually. I think getting a spring is much better and more reliable than the MBC, just one less thing to fail. Unless you are running a tune that utilizes more than one boost setting - Ex. 8psi daily and 12psi track then I would get the MBC. Good luck

It doesn't always happen plus eventually that spring will get weak I think. But when it comes to such low boost I doubt the rule of thumb applies to that.

i know at high boost you can even use a small spring for it too. you have to do a "push pull" i think is what it's called set up with the wastegate though. where you use the top port of the waste gate as well
