my car has developed a little bit of a wierd habit, it has been smoking every once in a while. It doesn't happen that much, only about once in every ten times I run my tc, and it only happens about 5 minutes after starting my car, and it will only bellow smoke for about 30 seconds when I am at a stop light. and when I start to go from the stop light the white smoke will disapear. Has anyone else had or have this problem, is it something I should worry about, I have a pretty up to date list of my engine mods on my profile. Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Troy

it could be a number of thing - i do know for a fact if you have blowby it will cause oil to leak past the turbo seals at idle but will be fine while driving or over about 1500rpms - and yes i know this from experience sadly
maybe your oil on you oil return line is not free flowing and burning oil.. i suggest a compression test too just to make sure.. but also it could be tune related, how rich is your afr when you get that smoke? or moisture on the exhaust cause smoke too when it gets hot and evaporates or even humidity from outside
my car smokes when it's cold. just plain white smoke. it smells bad cause i'm not running any cats. that is also another reason for the smoke.
If the smoke is blue and hangs around for a while then you are burning oil.
if it's black then your running rich.
if it's just white smoke and you arent running any cats then it should be normal.

I had a similar problem. I would smoke at random times while driving and while idling. It actually got worse when the AC was on and I was idling. It ended up being the turbo. I added an oil restrictor to the oil feed line and then everything was perfect. I did not even need to rebuild the turbo.

Coolant smells awesomely good when it burns - i was pulling my motor in mid december and using a propane heater to keep the garage warm i spilled like half a pint on the heater and it smelled yummy

thanks for all the suggestions, I am catless so that may have something to do with it, but this weekend I think I am going to re-tap the oil pan, beacuse when I did it the first time I only went 3/8" so I might go up to 1/2" this weekend and if that doesn't fix the problem I will put an oil restircter on
