How many people with high hp tCs (425+) that DD run E85 always? What bad issues have you ran across?

Getting e85 station that is consistent is a problem for some of my friends. The testers they use have tested from e60 to e90 all from the same pump at the same station over a period of time.

I knew it did vary a bit, but from E60 to E85 is a big gap. I've only seen one standalone that makes changes on the fly depending on the ethanol content in the tank.

So, when the station has a variation, do they then advertise it still as e85? Or do they post the downgraded #?

I think more standalones can do that if setup proper with the addit ional sensors.

That's what I mean though, do they continue to advertise as e85 or do they post the accurate # that the fuel is really at?

It is continued to be advertised as e85 when selling it. I am not saying it is a commonly occurs at all times. But it should be something that is checked regularly. One problem some people i know face occurs when the stations switch from summer blend to Winter blend of E85. While the name remains unchanged it is really e70 you are being sold to aid in start up. While some flex fuel cars may not have a huge problem for it. Your custom tune might and all it takes is pushing the car hard once with a tank of lower grade e85 to pop the motor.

Here is a good article on it from a mustang forum.

I am not saying it will be a problem common to everyone. Some states keep a much tighter reign on it, but it is something that i believe it should be checked from time to time. Over all e85 is well worth running if not i wouldn't suggest it to customers, friends and i would be switching over to it myself.

Most people run e85 with no problem. I have a station less than a mile down the road from my house but I know for a fact it varies alot throughout the year. Personally,in my area I would not run e85 because the station around here are not regulated and varies drastically depending on what season it is.

testing is easy.

I have also talked to a few guys with A standalone that run a flexfuel sensor that adjust the map based on ethanol content. For the most part i think you should be ok running it. Just during this time a year i would check and the spring/summer i would check due to switching of blends. I know plenty of people that run it without a problem at all. Best thing would be talking to some guys in you area that run it.
