Default E85 is Strange

As some of you may know I was pretty much one of the first guys to use E85 in a turbo TC. I think it is great but you guys want to hear something weird. Today I emptied my catch can and it was full of a mix of brown water that smelled like oil and E85, full to the top! I was like what the hell?? My oil is fine so no head gasket leak, and my water is fine as well. Turns out this is normal for E85, I guess the fuel is so cold that it creates like a condensation in the engine..strange..

so then would that mean that you have fuel getting past the rings and into your crankcase, mixing with your oil?

I dont think so, I think the fuel creates condensation that rises to the top of the engine. It is then blown into the catch can. The oil is clean no gas in it.

so far I haven't had that problem, just a tiny amount of oil in the catch can every oil change. What I did see was a bit of a white'ish powder in the downpipe last time I removed it.

hmm, insteresting.. never had this issue, my friends evo dont have it either. Something to look at in the future though whats causing this. Though i notice more condensation on the exhaust after sitting overnight compared to pump gas

I was on e85 for over 12k miles, never had that in my catch can..

But if memory serves me correctly you have your valve cover ported with 2 -10 lines? And intake mani, which could cause more considation build up bud.

E85 Sucks in water. That is why it can not be stored for long. I wouldint worry about it!
