Default EL and Tubular Manifolds

Tried seaching and couldn't find anything.
my question is what is the difference b/w EL manifolds vs tubular manifolds.
i know EL is supposed to be the best but both kinda look the same in some instances.
can the "gurus" help out on this one. thanks

Equal Length IS a Tubular Manifold.

can't a tubular manifold mean "header like" but not esentially equal length?

hey, beach808boyz, were you going to buy a kit or get a custom job done at a shop?

on a Normal basis...a Tubular Manifold is Equal length and Equal Length is a Tubular Manifold. I haven't seen to many (if their are any) tubular that were NOT EL.

The GReddy turbo manifold for the tC is a prime example of a non-equal length tubular manifold.

You can have an equal length cast manifold too, like the Treadstone manifold. I've heard that style being called a "styled log" manifold but I haven't heard that term too often. I actually don't think the Treadstone manifold is EL but if it's close.

But for the most part, any equal length manifold is going to be tubular. It's just easier to make it EL that way, especially considering all the different types of manifolds we're seeing these days.

That's what i was thinking cuz i remember reading about something like that about how the greddy is tubular but not EL.
That clears it up a lot better tho.
just outta curiosity why is it called EL? is each runner the same length or something?

They're EL cuz the tubes are approximately equal length :D

I will be posting here shortly a very informative write up and the ins and outs of manifold design. It will touch on the pros/cons of equal length, top mount vs bottom mount, log vs bottom mount etc.

Hopefully this will help educate and be useful for our community.

Regards-

Todd
