You can always slap a VTEC or in our case VVTI on the side of the car... I heard it puts out 200hp

This would see the most gains on a turbo car. It will also help tons with turbo spool. The only draw backs, are that these are not 100% sealed and do leak a little over time. On my srt, I would see gains of 2-3psi more when I had it open on the same boost controller setting.

oh yeah for sure if your performance oriented, it is a great mod. but for sound alone, its only for muscle cars. and butane, how do these leak, do the plates leak around the edges or something? ive seen these welded on so i dont know how they would leak.

they leak at the butterfly valve.( where it closes and opens)

This would be pretty nice if you had a turbo setup.

I'll verify that. Had one on my LS400. . . and they leak. It's a fairly annoying whistle, if you ask me. . . and no, it doesn't go wooooo woooooo a la bub rub and lil sis.

FYI, they are completely illegal as well. Doesn't matter what the db is, you cannot even have it on the car; open or closed.

If you want it for a turbo setup and track use, then you can install the same thing but with a bolted cap. You could get away with that (although I'm not sure if it is COMPLETELY legal either), so long as there is no operable switch within the passenger compartment. These things have been around for a VERY VERY long time. The old school ones were cable operated. . . you could probably still find them on JC Whitney catalogs for $20 some odd.

There are cars that come with something similar stock. The 3000GT VR4 had a switch that would open up two of the exhuast posts that were more highflow and give a very aggresive sound and help with power and sppol. Flip the switch for normal driving and better fuel economy.

I am sure others have something similar.

I dont think most people with turbo's mind if its legal or not I have a bunch of friends that have srt-4's with open downpipes and never has one of them gotten pulled over for there exhaust noise. Of course I'm in detroit and there are planty of LOUD v-8's so the cops dont worry too much about us little 4-bangers.

I thought SRT-4's have OEM straight down pipes, tuned to be noise compliant.
