Default Electronic Supercharger???

I'm sure everybody has come across this contraption when searching around on EBay, but what do you guys REALLY have to say about it? Is it a load of crap? Is it a complete hazard to our cars? Is it a waste of money? There may be a thread on this, but just in case there isn't post your opinions and answers, responses of any kind! No offense will be taken, just thought I'd get a gauge for this product.

Is it too good to be true?

I have seen those and seen the electric turbos. I am sure it is too good to be true. I mean you probably get gains from it. Not much though im sure. And you have to think its electric, so it is putting strains on your electricals to make power.

I normally try and stay out of these crazy threads, but I'll try to explain before the thread goes really nuts and gets locked up, LOL.

Yes, it is too good to be true and no better than magic snake oil.

Unless the car manufacturers switch to at least a 48 volt or even a 60 volt electrical system, electric superchargers will never be a reality. With your standard 90 AMP alternator dedicated to JUST the supercharger at the normal 12 or 14 operating voltage you will only see upwards of 1260 watts of power.

This is equivalent to less than 1-3/4 hp, which is probably WELL short of the power needed to drive a TRD SC fast enough to even create boost.

So in a nutshell, the math/physics is not even there to make it happen. If it's too good to be true.....................

ive known these are crap since i first saw them, but ^thats the first time someone has acctually explained why its just not possible! lol

ive researched REAL electric superchargers, and they work, but are only good for short runs and quick bursts, aka, drag racing, the electrical systems on those things are monsters!
