not going to lie i rid around in 2 FIC tc's this weekend tune by Mike (elevationTC aka M-Tuning) and FIC is smoooth as HELL! but the ultimate is also smooth and easy as crap to tune according to him after he hooked my ultimate up in his car. You would think because a standalone has full control it would be smoother.. not the case!

options for standalone for tc are aem, hydra and i think haltech is out.. you can use others but these are the ones that are easy plug and play or with minimal modification. I personally love my hydra, no support here SL but their hydra tech support is great, email or phone call.. And I think haltech is one very nice system

Full standalone can be "smoother" as what you say..

But the idle situation with the aem is a little crappy.. Other then that.. Driveability ____s on anything else!

I Still think FIC>Ultimate!

you will get used to little things like that.. The honda valve can only allow so much air to pass through to hold the idle!

Plus it was on the pcv valve.. Im changing that once i get some mods done to ur car..

When u pick it up i think u will be happy!

Are you guys calibrating the throttle and syncing the timing before you start tuning?

I was just asking, you would be surprised how many people forget to do that.

There is a way to calibrate the throttle better to avoid all what was mentioned here....I'm sure you know that though.

Theres no problem with it.. you cant take a twin disk and release it at idle...

thats the issue here..

Thats because the Ultimate used the stock ecu to control the idle.

With the EMS there is something you have to do when calibrating the throttle to avoid the tip in hesitation that is associated with using an idle air control valve to control the idle and a throttle plate that wants to move on it's own because it's a DBW and not a throttle cable driven unit. Plus if not calibrated most people try to compensate using the accel pumps and it just makes it worse because you are chasing your tail.
