which ems
Thats because the Ultimate used the stock ecu to control the idle.
With the EMS there is something you have to do when calibrating the throttle to avoid the tip in hesitation that is associated with using an idle air control valve to control the idle and a throttle plate that wants to move on it's own because it's a DBW and not a throttle cable driven unit. Plus if not calibrated most people try to compensate using the accel pumps and it just makes it worse because you are chasing your tail.

Correct. That is because if the throttle isn't set properly then the throttle and IAC are fighting each other. There is a way to calibrate the throttle being that it is a DBW car so that this does not happen.
Mike,
Relax.
No one is trying to say you did a crappy job. I'm merely trying to help you out. Your reply to my post where I asked you a question made it seem like you didn't want any. I apologize for trying to help.
The issue isn't the IAC persay. It's the drive by wire trying to adjsut while the IAC is.
Try this.
Configure,
ECU setup,
set throttle range,
When you are setting your throttle range and you are setting the closed throttle you need to go out and manually close the throttle blade by hand because when the key is on and the engine is off it sits at about a 2-3% opening but the AEM thinks this is 0%. This is the source of the conflict between the DBW and the IAC. After this it will be like tuning any other throttle cable car. So, manually close the throttle and click ok.
Set your WOT throttle range the way you would normally do it.
Yes the other EMS has the OEM ECU control idle. This is because with the Race box we intercept the signals for cam and crank and the stock ecu does not see them. So it does not think the car is idling and closes the throttle. However with the AEM as you know you have control over many functions that the others do not such as full VVTI control etc. AEM still has the most functionality of the ones you listed.
Try this and good luck.

Chad you didn't really even ask.....I saw the post and commented cause I have run into this before. Just trying to trouble shoot.
Mike, I wasn't trying to say you did anything wrong. I'm sorry if you took it that way. However, you will probably encounter this more in the future when you get into the tuning gig heavier. Just look at how we have to deal with it when it comes to the dezod vs ptuning vs descendant threads. As a business you get this all the time and it sucks but it's a part of the game. Good luck it takes thick skin and isn't easy. Don't lose any sleep over it. I'm sure chad wasn't trying to say anything either.
Just a misunderstanding and that happens when words are typed and not spoken face to face.

gingles stfu. Mike is nothing but a respectable hard worker. he has done nothing wrong and has treated my car like his own. This little drama that happened has nothing to do with his quality of work because its top of the line. M-Tuning ftmfw
holy deleted post!! LOL um about aem's driveablity being better than other ems's i know on evo's the hydra is like driving a stock car same with a good tuned scion+hydra. i think aem is almost 100% better at datalogging both are good units. the same thing killing both of them is DBW.
