Default going turbo 101

looking to go turbo by the end of this month. spending about 3800.
got some ?'s.

1) Do you have to use synthetic oi? or can u use reg 10w40?
2) i'd assume you would have to run 93 on all the turbo kits right?
3) anyone running a DIY kit w/o injectors or a proper tune? how dose it run?

What im lookin' at

Megen turbo manifold
dezod intercooler piping and intercooler.
38m tial WG
550 RC injectors

havnt desiced on a turbo or downpipe and fuel program. Might end up getting greddy kit any help or opinoions would help thanks!!!!

i thought it was 5w30. and injectors and tuning are almost essential or you'll probably blow your motor shortly after.

i belive it is optional on the greddy kit, but like lots of people say on this site "Don't boost on a budget" do it right the first time. i would say get the kit from either Turbotoyotas or dezod since they have complete kits out that have fuel management and injectors for around that price. dezod i know is having a group buy right now on their S1 turbo kit, not sure about turbotoyotas though, but i know they have kits for around that price range. you can boost on 91 octane gas, yes you have too get sythetic oil, i run 5w30 mobil 1, get a piggyback and injectors. if you are willing too put out that kind of money already like i said in the beginning do it right or you might regret it

yes you can drive without a tune.
but u should try to stay out of boost as much as possible and never go hard on the car until you have a proper tune.
tune should be done asap after the turbo install.

1. 5w30 Motul or amsoil

2. you can run 93 or 91, i ran 89 without a choice the other day with no side effects. it depends on the tune.

3. anyone running a DIY with stock injectors and no tune isnt going to to make too much power. injector upgrade and tune is a MUST HAVE.

The ZPI Stage 0 did not have fuel management or bigger injectors. I remember discussion going on that supposedly the stock ecu could compensate up to 9 psi.

May want to consider a prepackaged kit, one that's already been thought out for you, for your first time.

If not, please consider a lot of qualified consultation. It's a great motor, and will take more abuse than many other motors out there, but... it is a naturally aspirated one... and will take some dedication and money/time to do it right, and keep it running
